Moen 8718 Home 18-Inch Bathroom Grab Bar, Stainless

At my age, almost 82, safety in the bathtub is all important! My wife and I take showers, so with three bars to grab if dizzy or balance issues happen, I had to get and install yet one more! Located at a friend’s house, at 84, he has more balance problems than I do! I check on him periodically and I don’t want to find his body lying in his tub.

We measured wrong, and it was too big. We were very busy with the new bathtub surround that we didnt return it in time. Upset about the short return period because it wasnt cheap. Still in bag/box.

These grab bars are perfect for feeling secure in the shower as we age! You do need special heavy duty Molly bolts to insure they will hold when in use!

I watched the VIDEO Moen on how to install several times. Paid attention to what size keyhole saw to purchase, and which way the arrows needed to point. I had my level, a #2 pencil, my screwdriver, and Drill. I was ready to tackle two GRAB BARS. Then when I opened the Amazon box I discovered the VIDEO shown didnt apply. My GRAB BARS had the metal rings already attached and I needed to go to the Hardware and purchase special wall screws that also needed to penetrate the cinder block wall on the other side of the drywall where I was placing the Grab Bars. I also needed to purchase a concrete drill bit. Once I had the bars attached strongly to the walls in both bathrooms I was very pleased with the LOOK of both bars. Next time an Item is shown with a HOW TOO INSTALL Ill wait until the item arrives and read the instructions before purchasing needed items to install the item.

Provides rock solid grab bar, love it provides safety in shower or other places around the home.....excellent!!!! Update: 4-11-19 Bars are excellent heavy duty....how ever the screws that are included are awful. They tend to strip out the Phillips screw hole making it nearly impossible to tighten them properly....and removing them....FORGET IT. I suppose this is so all you monster men out there dont over tighten in bathrooms over tile or ceramic and crack the tile. If you are a normal person and have a small amount of judgment...I recommend purchasing some 10 (3/16) x 2 HEX HEAD STAINLESS METAL SCREWS with stainless washers. Hex head so you use nut driver instead of screw driver and tighten them properly. BE VERY CAREFUL INSTALLING OVER TILE OR PORCELIN not to over tighten. With the hex head you also have the option of removing them if needed

As a senior, I was told by nurses to be sure to have a grab bar in each shower/bath. I had my son followed the simple instructions and installed them easily. I am very happy with these strong bars. I feel safer than ever with a bar I can quickly take hold of. They are a great value and I now have peace of mind when Im showering.
