> 3 dayEveryone that has reviewed these headphones as having too much bass is absolutely correct: they are monstrously out of balance. To the point that the lower midrange and midrange are practically inaccessible. Which means the high end is left to fend for itself, somehow. Its truly startling that any reputable company would produce such a product with such an obvious problem and have the temerity -- the Temerity I say! -- to claim superior, balanced sound. While being comfortable to wear and lovely to the eye and touch, they are impossible to use for listening. My own application was for monitoring field recording. Sadly they muffled the signal as expertly as they muffled any external noise. Do yourself a favor and listen elsewhere...

> 3 dayThe headphones were provided in a high quality carry case and the build quality of the headphones is also of high quality. The headphones had garnered a number of great reviews from various review sources and I can see why. I cant compare them to more expensive headphones, but for the price point, they sound good and I am happy with the purchase.

Greater than one weekI own an embarrassing number of headphones priced from $800.00 to $10.00. I own open back, closed back, semi open back, ANC, iems, bluetooth headphones, bluetooth iems. These headphones stand out in the crowd for their performance, build quality and outstanding looks. They are extremely comfortable and can be worn for hours without fatigue. They feature a enjoyable sound signature with a slightly boosted low end. While many headphones today boost their lows these dont sound muddy or boomy like most of the other companies. The bass goes deep but never bumps up against the mids or gets unnatural. Mids are well represented and very smooth and accurate. Highs sing a very nice song without sibulance or fatigue. For closed back cans their sound stage is impressive with good width and depth. Instruments are well placed and easy to pick out. These have become my favorite closed back headphones because they have such an enjoyable sound. I do have a more detailed and technicaly accurate pair of closed back headphones but they reveal every flaw in poorly recorded songs or dont sound good with lower bit rate recordings. The Mezes just shine no matter what the source, bit rate or quality of the recording they just make songs sound better. In addition they scale well with better sources and amps. Very nice with tube amps. Wow, beauty, comfort and just plain enjoyable sound. What more can you expect from a headphone.

Greater than one weekI love these headphones! Theyre comfortable, light, beautiful, and sound incredible. The bass is prominent yet not overbearing. The midrange is detailed and musical. The treble is just OK. If theres a weak link, its the treble. I wish the treble was a little more forward. (However, this might be due to my old ears.) Overall, I dont think youll find a better set of closed cans for the price. Ive tried a LOT of headphones (and most were way more expensive than these) over the years, and the Classics are my favorite.

> 3 dayThese sound as good as they look. They are also the most comfortable headphones Ive ever owned. They have bass that you can feel without taking away from the treble. If you like rock or other bass heavy music, get a pair of these. You can thank me later. They are so efficient that you can get great sound from them by just plugging them into your phone. They give me the wow factor that I was looking for. I returned a pair of the Hifiman Sundara because they didnt have any bass and required way too much power to drive.

> 3 dayWhen considering these I heard some divided opinions. Several folks said they are too bright sounding and a bit lacking on low-end bass. Others praised its open sound stage and praised/criticized them for being very transparent. Ive had them for a few days now and have listened to a fairly wide array of music. At the moment, Im loving how they sound with Monks Brilliant Corners (streaming via Tidal). I can hear Monks percussive attack on the keys and the lovely tone of softer sustains as he plays. I know that the concept of wanting to just hear the music, the pure intent of the artist is a bit of a fools errand. However, I have made an effort to use monitors and create a bit of a reference set up (Fluance Rt185 and Klisph RM600s). These headphones fit right in. After about the first 20 minutes I stopped wondering if they are coloring or warming or cooling the music. I love the clarity that comes w/ the brightness and I hear wonderful base. Earlier today I was listening to Thundercats recent It Is What It Is and it was luscious sounding! I dont know what happens if I turn the volume up to 11 as I want to hear the music not be blown away. So these are wonderful. Perfect? No... my ears seem to feel a bit warmer than w/ the Fostex these are replacing. Also, while Ive never thought of myself as having a small head lol.. it has taken me a little while to get used to the lightness and not quite a snug fit. I also will say I dont think I would use these out and about walking. In some ways they would be great... certainly are the best looking cans Ive seen in a long time. However, while moving around with them on, the wood cups and metal suspension telegraphs the sound of the cord moving or if something bumps the metal frame, it is pretty distracting. On the other hand, if you mostly sit and listen, working at a keyboard, reading, etc... they are perfect.

> 3 dayA headphone that has an involving and dynamic presentation with an open sense of space, better than most closed back designs. And while it is dynamic and slightly forward in its presentation it still manages to avoid any of the typical harshness that is commonly associated with headphones exhibiting this characteristic. The design using no adhesives is unusually clever and its appearance is far above headphones in this price range. My headphones came with a defective 3m cord which they promptly replaced. Their after purchase customer service was excellent.

> 3 dayI purchased these headphones with some reservations about the size. I have been looking for a good set to travel with without compromising on sound quality. I did not end up keeping these headphones due to the size (although they are not any bigger than a lot of over ear sets on the market), but they were one of the hardest returns Ive had to make. The sound is exceptional, it really blew me away, and the build quality is solid. Nothing on these headphones looks or feels cheap. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a full size, over ear set.

> 3 dayGreat pair of headphones for when youre on the go. A really good amount of detail and clarity, similar to M50x. But much better bass thump. Great vocals. Like many warmer, thumpier headphones between $150-$500, these are very forgiving of whatever source/dac/amp you use, so I never feel the need to use a specialized dac/amp with these. It does improve with the H2, of course, but the difference is not as dramatic as it is for the m50x, Utopias, HD800, T1. The Meze 99 Classics are as forgiving as the tr80/250. I also think the Meze 99 Classics have struck a really fun, musical balance between the different frequency ranges. Not flat by any means, but foot tapping fun. The sound profile and forgiving nature of the sound and the lightness of the Meze 99 Classics are ideal when out and about town, but not needing noise cancellation. The original headphones I used for being out and about, but not needing noise cancellation was the tr80/250. It has a nice thumpy sound, isolates okay, gets in a good amount of detail and clarity, is very forgiving of the source, but somehow lacks the toe tapping fun of the Meze 99 Classics. The only thing I wish is that these had the fold flat capability of the m50x (the analytical headphones I reserve for audio recording). Fold flat is useful for both getting into my thin iPad bag, and also when I want the headphones around my neck and out of the way.

> 3 dayI had only read/watched 2 reviews for the Meze and once I got past the audiophile descriptions of the sound which all sounded very acceptable, I was attracted to the simplicity and construction of these headphones. No Glue. Very little plastics. Every piece is replaceable and every part can be disassembled by hand. In my opinion, when looking at the details and holding it in your hands it feels great and looks stunning. How the headband easily slides to accommodate an easy and firm hold of your head. Its also large enough to provide room for large ears without looking cumbersome or awkward. The cable that comes with the headphones are great and it comes with two versions. One that is purely for headphone amps and one with an in-line microphone that could be used with a mobile device. I have been listening to these headphones on either at Schiit Stack (Schiit Modi 3 + Schiit Magni 3) or a Chord Mojo and theres enough detail in these headphones that I can clearly tell the difference between the DAC and Headphone amp. These headphones are competitive in sound quality with headphones that are 1.5-2x the price. As far as I am concerned if you are spending less than $500, these are a must-buy.
