> 3 dayMy son is in the 3rd grade and has to write weekly definitions to his spelling words as a homework assignment. I tried several dictionaries out and couldnt seem to find the right one for him. The 1st one had words that were way too small. The 2nd one was a large print dictionary, but I found that it didnt give descriptive definitions and it didnt have all of his spelling words inside. I was starting to get discouraged.....and then I purchased this dictionary. IT IS WONDERFUL!!! I go on and on about how thrilled I am with it every time my son and I use it. The writing is just the right size and there are many colorful and descriptive pictures to help further explain some words. I have found every single word in it. It is thick. The first time that I purchased this dictionary it appeared to be a used product. It had a few scratches on it and a few marks on some pages. I contacted customer service, and I received a replacement the very next day. Now THAT is some speedy service! The replacement was in perfect condition. I just chalked it up to knowing that these things happen from time to time. The issue was resolved in such a timely manner that it didnt even matter anymore. PLUS...I was so thrilled with how wonderful this product was that I couldnt be anything but thrilled about it. I have no complaints whatsoever and I would definitely recommend this product to anyone with an elementary aged child.

> 3 dayThis dictionary is very comprehensive, easy to navigate and very sturdy. Many of the pages have illustrations which help kids to visualize the meaning of the word as well. I would definitely recommend it.

> 3 dayI got this as a tool for my children to use in case/when the digital world fails. They might not always have access to technology and the way things are going now, everything is on the verge of collapse. Kids need to know how to do math, write in cursive, and look up words in the dictionary. This is a beautiful dictionary for kids! Its big, lots of words and pictures. My children sat and looked through the pages. They were quite captivated by the dictionary, the word history captions, and the root word explanations. Its very colorful, but not too much...just the right amount for 4th - 6th graders. It arrived in perfect condition!

> 3 dayMy youngest daughter teaches 5th Grade Language Arts (back when she was in school I think it was ENGLISH class). Anyway, theyve moved the elementary grades into their new building this summer. And she wanted one of the Merrian-Websters Elementary Dictionary, New Edition for each one of her students to have to use. Plus have several for any new students that may come in later. So between me, other family members, and a whole bunch of her friends, she got the number of books she wanted. She is so proud of them.

> 3 dayThis one is a bit advanced for our 7 year old first grader but he loves the pictures and is using it already. He easily figured out how to use it.

> 3 dayPerfect reference tool. My 9 year old son loves looking up words in it and understands how to use it almost intuitively. There are synonyms, cross references, tons of pictures and it’s very easy for him to find the word he’s looking for using the guide words and color coded letters. In a lot of cases the definition is used in a sentence and there are parts of speech provided for each word that are clear and easy for kids to understand. He also uses it to help him pronounce words. Just a great tool all around.

> 3 dayThis dictionary was designed with children in mind. My nine-year-old has an easy time using it for homework assignments. It has some pictures and detailed instructions on how to use the dictionary. It has so many features including a guide for writers, Greek and Latin roots in English, and a map of the United States and the world among other features. I recommended for parents as their childs first dictionary.
