Merriam-Webster’s Elementary Dictionary

> 3 dayI bought this children’s dictionary for my kids. I always had encyclopedia and dictionaries in my house when I was growing up. Everytime my kids ask me what a word means or read books and doesn’t know what a word mean I tell them to look it up just like my mom told me before the Internet and cellphone were popular. I will order another advanced dictionary for bigger words so that my kid’s vocabulary can increase each grade level.

> 3 dayAlthough there were several reviews posted regarding errors in the book, once I received this dictionary, I carefully looked through and it does not contain the errors mentioned. They seem to have corrected not only the cover where individuals stated that compass was spelled wrong, but also errors inside the book. I bought this for my 11-year old son who wished to have a dictionary for Christmas. It is a good starter dictionary that can be used along the years. I highly recommend.

Greater than one weekThis dictionary is nice for elementary kids. Font is a good size for them to read easily and the pictures are nice. However, I have found basic words are not included in this edition. For example, my daughter wanted to look up recreate. All that was in the book was recreation. How do you not include recreate? Basic words and root words should be included to help young students.

> 3 dayMy 3rd grade granddaughter reads well above the expected level, but when I asked her what she does when she does not know what a word means, she shrugged and gave me a look like what are you talking about? I know that she does not know words that she reads when she mispronounces them. She has limited access to screen time and has no phone, so she needs a non-digital helper. So this is what I bought for her. She may think its a weird gift now, but she uses it, shell be smarter for it.

> 3 dayBecause it has dynamite in it. We struggled with distance learning and I had the idea to get a dictionary for my kid, well because some times it is nice to just do some of the learning off the computer. I ordered two and will be sending one to his dads for when he is there. Bind is nice on these and the color pictures are a nice touch for young learning.

> 3 dayBeautiful dictionary. Full of color and letters are big and legible. Has all the words my 4th grader needs to find. Sometimes I use it as well. I looked everywhere for a dictionary we could both read easily. So glad I chose this one instead of a traditional dictionary for school.
