I couldn’t get the old valve off, due corrosion - requiring replacement of the entire faucet. I was able to install this product, but it looked quite simple.

Ive ordered this twice, once from D P L and once from Amazon.com. I installed the cartridge received from D P L, and it is working just fine. However, D P L appears to be providing an aftermarket product rather than a Kohler Genuine Part. The cartridge received from D P L was packaged in a plain plastic bag, without label or instructions. Receipt was very quick via First Class Mail, and I needed that quick service for my leaking faucet. No spline was included with the cartridge and an 11/16-inch socket (possibly a deep socket, depending on your faucet) is required to install or remove the cartridge. The cartridge received from from Amazon.com was in packaging clearly labeled Kohler Genuine Parts and included instructions for installation. A new spline was included and a 5/8-inch socket (possibly a deep socket) is required to install or remove the Kohler cartridge. Im currently satisfied with either product, and may not know for years whether one or the other provides better service. D P L offers the best price if you dont need a replacement spline. Instructions for installing new valves (i.e. cartridges) in a two-handle Kohler faucet are available on the Kohler web site.

Works great. If you have trouble getting the handle off the faucet valve then wrap around 2 feet of duct tape the chrome handle base and use a channel lock pliers to twist them off. This works on my Koehler faucet.

The valve on our bath became stuck on about a year and a half ago. I panicked and broke the handle and was able to get the water off. I didnt have the knowledge to fix it myself at the time or the funds to hire someone, so the tub sat since then. I finally watched some YouTube videos for tub repair and took on the task of fixing the tub myself. Once all the parts came in, it only took about a total of an hour labor tops, and just over $100 to make the repairs myself.

Genuine kohler part, went in very easily (a lot easier than taking out the old one!). No complaints with the part itself - seems to be the same quality as the piece that I removed. However, I have the Bancroft monoblock 2 handle kohler faucet (model #K-10579-4-CP) and this part is actually for the hot water side. Pay attention to the clockwise vs counter-clockwise turn for your particular faucet to make sure you dont make the same mistake I did!
