Greater than one weekWorks great. If you have trouble getting the handle off the faucet valve then wrap around 2 feet of duct tape the chrome handle base and use a channel lock pliers to twist them off. This works on my Koehler faucet.

> 3 dayFit fine but the old one was made with Brass and copper. This appears to be chromed steel or maybe stainless. I replaced the hard to turn unit with this, then soaked the old unit in vinegar overnight before disassembling, soaking parts in vinegar again to get the calcium out of the insides. Lubed with pool lube and re-assembled. Ill keep it on-hand to replace the next one that gets too difficult to turn. To rebuild, remove the clip and bow-tie stopper from the top, pull the washer off the bottom, and push the top down through the base. But unless you have extra time to do this, its cheap enough to just buy a new one next time. Use Teflon tape when replacing to make it much easier to take out next time. As others have noted, it really doesnt matter which side you buy. The only difference between hot and cold is a little bow-tie stopper on the top held in place with a clip. If you want to switch it, pull the clip and rotate the stopper 90 degrees. Pictures are of the old one rebuilt to show the clip and stopper.

> 3 dayUnfortunately, my location has some pretty hard water, so Ive had to replace these valves about once every 8-15 years or so. But this replacement valved fixed our stuck bathroom faucet valve just fine. The hard part is getting the cartridge out of the valve body. My setup is for a widespread faucet, in which the valves (the discontinued Kohler Taboret style) are each mounted separately into the countertop. Turning the 5/8 nut on top with a long socket head only results in loosening and spinning the whole valve body in the countertop. The solution was to disconnect the valve body completely from the water supply, removing it from the countertop and mounting it in the biggest vice I own. With a little careful effort the cartridge could then be unscrewed. While you have everthing apart, grab the vinegar and take the time to clean all the nasty lime deposits off.

> 3 dayGenuine kohler part, went in very easily (a lot easier than taking out the old one!). No complaints with the part itself - seems to be the same quality as the piece that I removed. However, I have the Bancroft monoblock 2 handle kohler faucet (model #K-10579-4-CP) and this part is actually for the hot water side. Pay attention to the clockwise vs counter-clockwise turn for your particular faucet to make sure you dont make the same mistake I did!
