Good design and fit perfectly but There was a small tare on the screen :( its not worth returning because it works but looks ugly now

Must have cover!!Makes it a breeze opening the enclosure to feed,water ect.Well worth the purchase!

Pretty good, There are small gaps near the middle hinges which could allow escapees if youve got smaller inhabitants in the enclosure but it really depends on what youve got in there. If youre working with even a medium sized animal youll be just fine.

This lid does fit 40 gallon breeders well and I imagine it has its applications. The idea is intelligent; a cover that keeps one half covered when you open the lid to prevent creature escapes. Well the reality is that a 18x18 square (the size of each lid on either side of the hinge) is super awkward to open unless you keep the space above your aquarium completely clear. Since I stack my cages within heavy duty shelving this particular lid is really no better than a solid lid. So minus a star for not really being much better than the single piece lids. Minus a second star for being awkward to use. The good news is that it IS heat proof. The screen is a much thicker metal than say window screen. Its actually heavy duty enough that I hang my rats hammocks from the lid; I can have a whole litter of three week old babies piled into one hammock and the lid doesnt budge. It is also pleasantly heavy so that I dont really worry about my rats nudging the lid open.
