The shims worked well to align a heavy metal-clad front door that was sagging. The deadbolt was striking the plate instead of going into the bore, and the whole door had to be muscled up in order to lock it. One issue that I had to work around was that a single shim was not enough to align the door, and with two shims the door would not close. The instructions do not have any mention of this, however if two shims are arranged fully overlapped facing each other with ribbed side being in contact, and the corners of the one that is facing outward are trimmed to fit the indentation in the door jamb, they adjust the door by ~3/32 that was just enough to do the trick in my case. Note that the shims that I received had a 3/4 depth cutouts for the bolts that can be seen in the multi-pack listing for this product.

For years I used cardboard for shims with mixed results over time (cardboard compresses over time). I bought these shims when my front door once again wouldnt lock. The dead bolt was hitting below the bore in the door frame. I removed the card board shims and replaced them with two of the EZ-SHIMS. The door locks normally again. I dont see the EZ -Shims compressing like the cardboard does. The only minor issue (really a non-issue for me), is that you will probably have to trim them as they are not the correct shape for most newer hinges. In order to fit the EZ-Shims in the hinge mortise for hinges with rounded corners, two corners need to be trimmed. That is easily done with a pair of scissors.

Noticed I could see light coming through the bottom left side of my front door. Its been VERY cold out and I was wondering why my electric fireplace didnt seem to be heating as well. Walked up to the door and put my hand down and you could feel icy air pouring right in! Googled how to fix something like this, found these on Amazon and had them in just a couple of days. It was SO easy to fix the door! I just swung my door open wide, sat down on my front stoop and removed the screws on the side of the hinge that attaches to the door. I slid in one of the shims, put just two of the screws back in then shut the door to check it. Theres was still a gap - though a lot smaller - so I put a second shim in. Now its PERFECT! The door also isnt wobbly when locked since its better aligning with the bolt plates. What a perfect product! Does exactly what its supposed to, super easy to install AND super cheap! Theyre also plastic so not like theyre going to compress or deteriorate like home made cardboard shims will. I still have THIRTEEN left over shims. I posted on facebook to friends to see if anyone else could use them. (The pics are before, after and a shot of the hinge so you can see what it looks like with the shims in place)

This product is a great idea. I showed it to my brother in law who is a carpenter. He was blown away with the simplicity of this and the low price. After installing behind the hinge you cant even see the shim. It was the perfect solution to align the inside front door so it would stay open. I only used one shim.

Had the front door to beach cottage changed. The door had un-even gaps (closer to frame on right side but large gaps on top left and left side). The door would not shut without engaging the deadbolt by force. The installer said that it was normal after over $500 install charge. Placing two of this shims by loosening hinges on right bottom and one in middle hinge fixed the issue

I bought a new house and very soon the front door starting sticking and would not stay shut unless it was locked. It had been installed by what is laughingly called professionals. I placed two shims behind the bottom hinge, one behind the next hinge up and none behind the top two hinges. Now the door opens easily and latches easily. Too bad the professionals dont know how to hang doors, but luckily the shims are available to home owners so we can fix the shoddy workmenship.
