Dell UltraSharp U2723QE 27 4K UHD WLED LCD Monitor - 16:9 - Black, Silver

Just a very few things turned me away from this beautifully crafted Dell U2723QE 27 16:9 4K UHD IPS Monitor with USB Type-C Docking. 1) I tested this monitor side by side the LG 24MD4KL-B 24-inch Ultrafine 4K UHD IPS LED Monitor with Built-in Speakers, 3840x2160. I really wanted a 27 monitor for work flow and productivity purposes but the 24 LG won, and heres why. I couldnt believe I gave up the 27 however, screen quality and MacBook integration along with Thunderbolt 3 played the biggest role in my decision. The Dell didnt look great side by side, although equipped with 1.07 Billion colors, 4K 3840x2160 screen resolution, along with so many connection ports (another reason I bought the Dell) I couldnt sleep at night. If the Dell was capable of 500cd/m of brightness, Mac integration and Thunderbolt, hands down I would have kept it. Like I mentioned, this is an excellent monitor but its not for everyone and I can say the same for the LG. If youre looking for a lot of connections, larger screen real estate and a decent brightness of 400 cd/m² Brightness, GO FOR IT!

This monitor continues to keep me happy with its resolution and ability to keep characters and artwork clear and concise. I actually have 3 of them, and they are outstanding.

The original one I purchased started flickering and ghosting after about 3 weeks. I called up Amazon for a return and I had to speak to them for about 15-20 min to merge a call with someone from Dell. There was a lot of back and forth on who was responsible for the return/replacement. (Lesson learned.. just order from Dell next time.) I ended up getting a replacement monitor (same model) from Dell within a few days. That worked well and then after about a month.. flickering and ghosting AGAIN. The screen quality/color is great but it seems to have problems with quality control and reliability.

Awesome quality monitor..: great clarity and resolution. Price was very competitive.

The monitor arrived in good order, was easy to set up and connect to my MacBook Pro M1 Pro, and works well. The monitor comes with a three year warranty, but when I contacted Dell to register the monitor I was told that I had to fill out a warranty and ownership transfer request and that it could take up to ten business days to process. Today, on the tenth day, I contacted Dell and was told that the request was denied because I needed to provide the order number that governed Dells shipment of the monitor to the IT Parts Store. I telephone the IT Parts Store and they told me to submit the issue to them via Amazon. I just did that and am awaiting their response. The monitor is no good to me without the warranty. Dells process for warranty and ownership transfer is far less than transparent. And, in my case, if you didnt buy the product directly from them you are treated like a second class customer. I am not sure the dollars saved on the purchase price is worth the aggravation of my current situation. UPDATE NOVEMBER 23, 2022 On Monday November 21, 2022 after 15 emails and three phone calls starting on October 26 I finally received notice from Dell that my requested transfer of ownership and warranty from the seller (IT Parts Store) was approved. Luckily during one of my phone calls, I happened upon a Dell employee who stepped up and facilitated the transfer. There were also multiple emails and calls with the IT Parts Store. They also offered to assist and requested to Dell that the transfer take place. Having official ownership and warranty brings closure to this ordeal, but does not change my assessment that for me the dollars saved were not worth the time and effort that I spent to secure something that should have transferred automatically. The monitor is still performing well.

Monitor intermittently goes haywire: entire screen flashes; wide colored bands scroll; gray static-y images flash on screen. Lasts anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours. Product arrived in standard cardboard box with Dell logo on the side, not pizza box as shown in the manual; I question whether the factory seal had been broken, and whether this monitor was new (as the listing claimed it would be), or whether it was refurbished.

By default its not working on 4k until you switch on scaling in Mac. In my case 27” is too small for 4k.

I bought this monitor as my third monitor. Dell definitely did not disappoint. Great contrast and brightness. I enjoy the 4K QHD resolution. Makes a lot of difference to a 1920 rez monitor. Image is very crisp and sharp. Only draw back might be a not narrow enough bezel. The frame is very thin at the edge but picture is still 3/8” away on the display surface.

Overall, Im plenty satisfied with this monitor, which I got two of. After about a month, one of the two started to intermittently flash a horizontal yellow bar across the entire middle of the screen, so that’s bad luck. The colors & contrast seem just fine to me. I appreciate how convenient they are to hook up. Edit: The problem monitor showed a manufacture date of June 2022. A firmware update dated August 2022 resolved the issue, so now no complaints.
