I bought this to possibly replace my incandescent heat bulbs. My current set up as the lamps directly on top of the tanks. So this lightbulb is not a good option because it heats the air up to 108 degrees Fahrenheit at about 6 inches. I was measuring around 98 at a foot. So for non-arboreal species like turtles and tortoises, it would be great. Because it gets too hot I have no info on longevity.

I am raising 4 baby Red Eared Sliders that found their way into my 10,000 gallon koi pond skimmer. They are too small to stay in the pond because my bottom drain is 2” PVC and they could easily get sucked into and killed by the main filter. So I’m raising them indoors until they’re big enough to avoid my filtration system. This light is perfect, not blindingly bright and not too hot. The turtles, I call them “The Fab Four” seem to like it too, they spend about 7 hours a day basking under the light. Please note that when I release these turtles into my pond that they will be free to remain in my pond OR to leave into the river near my house. I highly recommend these bulbs and the delivery was as advertised.

I would gladly give these a great rating because I bought them for warmth, knowing damn well these things don’t produce UVB, but people are buying them for UVB which is non existent. My Solarmeter reads 0.0. Reptile, bird, animal owners purchasing this always if it’s too good to be true than it usually is and it’s not worth risking your pets life for a supposed good deal. For warmth’s they’re great though! My stacked enclosures have 8” between bulb and floor and trying to find a suitable bulb is difficult. If I could I’d scoop all of these up.

We have two separate turtle tanks and put these in both. Ive never seen our turtles look as happy and relaxed as they do under these lights. They stretch and dangle their toes in the water and just look blissed out. Ive never seen them act quite like this. Ive only had them in for a week so I cant speak to their durability, but considering how cheap they are, Im not too concerned. Ive had $15 lights blow out after a month. Now *that* gets my goat... Edit - 4 weeks later, both going strong.
