would highly recommend 1st time replacing a drive, could not have been easier if your just adding a drive piece of cake.

Good hard drive, good value for money

I bought this because of name brand and it supposedly offered the same 5 year warranty as Samsung. But now I see comments that there is also a use limit with the Samsung warranty quite a bit higher. So I screwed up. Also my new Crucial SSD takes 50% more time to boot up (21s) on my 10 year old desktop than my relatively new Samsung 860 EVO takes (15s) on my 15 year old Dell laptop. So much for the name brand argument. as for the easy to install...order a bracket kit for $9 on Amazon and physically it was easy. but getting the disk cloned with the linked Acronis software and then to boot as the primary drive was a bigger challenge. I never got a notified on the clone...and until I switched the SATA ports on the motherboard between the SSD and the original HDD, couldnt get Windows 10 to even recognize the SSD in File Explorer. But after doing that, the SSD shows up in File Explorer, appears the SSD was successfully cloned...and is now my primary boot drive. Whod have thunk this computer rube could figure out the obtuse solution...albeit slower to boot up with a quad core CPU than an older Dell with a duo core.

The crucial drive install used to be seamless, but I had an issue with the software finding the drive, so I had to format the drive prior to cloning with was in the past done by the software during the install.

Bought two 500gb ssds one to replace a 500gb hhd and the other to replace a 250gb ssd. The first time replacing the 500gb hhd went flawlessly and was able to complete in around 20 minutes. The laptop runs super fast and their software added another 8gb of virtual ram. At this point I would have given them 5 stars. This went so well I bought the second one to replace a 250gb ssd. The Acronis software was unable to clone the ssd drive. Tried multiple options and none succeeded. I had to then copy all my data to another drive and do a clean install of Windows 10. This time it took two days to complete and I still have to download and install all the programs I want to use. After searching the web I found that this is a common problem. I dont think they should advertise upgrading your existing drive when it cannot be done without a clean install of Windows 10. Other than that am happy with the purchase, both drives are working great.

Had some Seagate HDD’s that just left performance lacking from the Drive Pool. The Crusial MX500 not only sped up but also stabilized the array. For some reason I could not figure out or find a solution to the prior HDD’s problems, they kept clicking and cycle on off causing disconnection to the array and software. That issue no longer exists after installing these MX500’s!! Speed and Stability! Longevity, we’ll see about that, but with the brand I’m a little more confident these will last a good amount of years.

Ive used crucials SSDs before, and theyve worked great for me.

I have Crucial SSD drives in 5 desktop PC and 1 laptop and several more used for daily/monthly offline backups. All perform well. Ive tried other brands with no appreciable difference in various read/write tests Ive performed. When needed, which is seldom, vendor support has been excellent.
