New in the box as advertised. Good quality manufacture, not a counterfeit. Works as advertised. Here is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Crucial takes you to a series of YouTube videos for the cloning process and installation of the drive. Where I ran into trouble was installing and running cloning software included with the drive. The videos are out of date with the software and some steps are missing. Being semi computer savvy, I was able to figure it out. In the first part, only the screen shots look different but the titles are the same. Here was the confusing part. After changing the drive (which was easy by the way) and booting up the computer, instead of just booting normal like they say it should it took you to a screen that asks you how you want to recover your drive. You dont need to do anything here, just close it. It will then ask you if you want to shut down or reboot. After the computer rebooted it worked normally. Very fast now. If your HDD is 5 or more years old, you should consider replacing it with an SSD. They are not that expensive anymore.

I ran Crucials system test and bought a drive that came up as compatible. I ran the Acronis software and made a clone of my hard drive. I swapped the SSD into the laptop easily. Now Im getting an error and cant do anything except access the UEFI. I figured Id be ok getting this from Amazon instead of directly from Crucial because Amazon claims that an expert will help you fix your problem. Ive instead reached someone who knows nothing about computers. She keeps telling me to go into Windows settings, and I cant even boot up. What a bait and switch.

El paquete, para mi gusto, no vino bien protegido, ya que, vino directamente dentro del sobre de cartón y al haber espacio se desplazaba dentro de este. Me hubiese gustado que hubiese estado forrado por papel de burbujas, ya que es un componente delicado. En cuanto a la instalación en mi torre, como ya tenía otro ssd instalado, tuve que comprarme un soporte (+ cable sata) para la ssd nueva y poder instalarlo. Además, dependiendo del tipo de torre/caja que tengáis, puede que no sea suficiente con el soporte, puesto que mi torre para poder ponerle almacenamiento trae unas pestañas para colocarlas en los laterales y encajarla en la sección de la torre correspondiente (tengo una caja nox coolbay). Tuve que enganchar esas pestañas al soporte que compré y ya pude ponerla en mi torre.

This Crucial MX500GB SSD slowly gave up the ghost after 8 months. Would not boot up. Installed original HD and laptop booted correctly. Dont recommend.

This is my 3rd MX500 all installed in laptops. The drive hits the rated speed but in a system with Optane memory the write speeds are way off. Im only getting 148MB. This is the speed using crucial storage exec with momentum cash turned on.
