> 24 hourCrucial has released these SSDs with faulty firmware. They have corrected the problem with an update, but their update utility does not work for drives delivered with the fault firmware. These drives will disconnect from many devices randomly, some within just a couple of minutes and others will go more than a year and then fail (as I experienced and had subsequently found from troubleshooting conversations with compute hardware and Crucial technicians). Either way, they will fail to connect to your system and must be replaced. I recently purchased a new 4TB MX500 SSD for a raid 10 application. Upon inserting and beginning the raid rebuild it disconnected and failed. After calls to the NAS supplier initially, being informed by them of the firmware problem which obviously they had experienced through other’s failures, I then reached out to Crucial themselves. I found the new drive I’d just received was delivered with the faulty firmware (mine had *45), and Crucial technician’s attempts to help update the drive to the needed *46 version also failed. Their special utility failed (Crucial Storage Executive), and the manual update process also failed. There was no method to update to the needed version of firmware. I had to send the drive back for a refund and have purchased a trustworthy Samsung SSD in its place. Unfortunately, until Crucial has all new drives delivered with the *46 firmware, which you can see on the back of the packaging but can’t confirm when buying on-line, it is a gamble as to how long the drive will actually last. Fair warning…

> 24 hourI plugged this 4TB SSD into my Dell Laptop, went to Disk Management after right click START and away we go. Not quite the full 4TB but well just have to live with that.

> 24 hourHad my 2018 laptop crash. The hard drive was toast. I purchased a newer laptop and was not happy with its design or performance.

> 24 hourUsed this drive to work as a replacement ssdclone for a hard drive on my work laptop, so far so good. The laptop does boot and load programs much faster, but there have been a couple of times when Ive had to to a hard restart after putting the laptop to sleep, it seems like some files or info got misplaced on the MBR or something, but nothing major. Actually seems like it runs cooler on the laptop than the previous HDD. Cant speak to long tr erm reliability yet, but ok so far, have had pretty good experience with crucial Ram and flash drives.

> 24 hourSeller is great. Crucial proves to be absolute junk. The failure rate is more than 30%. Total garbage. Samsung and WD and Nytro are way better and far more reliable.

> 24 hourUsato per sostituire hd del mio nas. Ottimo, velocissimo, buon compromesso alternativo per un ssd non nativo per nas, ma comunque dalle ottime prestazioni

> 24 hourI did a lot of research on SSDs and decided on the MX500 series. I bought two—250GB and 500GB. Both were to replace hard drives in a Dell laptop and desktop. Crucial provides cloning software and it was extremely easy to clone the old drives to the new SSDs. The performance difference is incredible. Both computers boot noticeably faster and applications open in a flash. Great SSD at a fair price.
