This is one of my favorite baby einstein videos for the simple fact that it does teach sign language. This one is good for babies and preschoolers. (Also, check out Baby Shakespeare which is another one of my favorite Baby Einstein videos)

we had a lot of trouble getting our little girl to talk and this dvd has really helped her identify words with objects. I love the sign language and pictures presented in such a great way. This is a great product. I would highly recommend all of the Baby Einstein products to new parents. They really are great teaching tools for you and baby. =)

Best of all from Moms perspective on learning words (in three verbal languages)and signing. Still interested after my 16 month old viewed a number of times, especially in other languages. Use as basis for naming things around the house just like the DVD.

I am a big fan of baby einstein, and every other one Ive bought my 13 month old has loved, but this one is not captivating to him, and not nearly as catchy as the other baby einstein dvds. If you are interested in teaching your child signs, whether or not they can hear, I would HIGHLY recommend Signing Time instead. Its real sign language as well, but shows a lot of repetition, kids and babies doing the signs, cute songs, etc. I cant emphasize enough how much better these videos are than the baby wordsworth. In fact, the signing time people were used to train the cute little twin boys in Meet the Fockers movie. You can buy it on amazon, but also check out what theyre all about at signingtime (dot) com

I am pleased to see that ASL is finally getting more popular for young children. I have a child who is hearing impared and we have used ASL with her since she was an infant. This video is a good starting tool for young children but as they grow they will want to know more and will need something a little more entergetic to hold there attention. We also use the SIGNING TIME series with our daughter. We love the role model that Marlee has become in Blues clues and now in this new video. My 3 yr old recognized her right away.

If youre going to buy a childrens video, this a great video for toddlers. I recommend it over other kids videos because it is fun, not too fast-paced or cartoon animated, and the puppets are really cute. My kids liked it. Having said that, I have a beef with the title Baby Einstein and marketing this to BABIES. It seems to imply that watching these videos is good for babies, which they are NOT! These videos may be great for older kids, but definitely not for babies brains. After some research I found out that: 1) brain wave activity in babies is slower when watching television than when sleeping. 2) for every hour of television a baby watches a day, their chances of acquiring an attention deficit disorder increases by 10%, 3) for every hour of television viewed daily at 4 yrs old, there is a significant odds increase for being a bully later on, and 4)consistent, heavy television viewing (more than 2 hrs daily) throughout early childhood can cause behavior, sleep and attention problems. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no television for children under 2, and no more than two hours of media (tv, videos, video games & computers) daily after age 2! I think its important for parents and caregivers to be aware of this so they can make better informed choices. I hope it encourages some people to limit television usage for babies and look for other outlets when possible. For those looking to calm babies and build better brains, I recommend baby carriers because studies show that infants who are carried an extra 3 hours per day cry 40% less, and this effect is lasting over time! Frequently held babies pick up verbal skills faster and develop better core muscle strength and balance. Also, learning to communicate in sign language can reduce frustration and tantrums, accelerate language development and promote parent-child bonding in infants and toddlers.

The kids love this video, long after the point when I thought they would be too old for it. We started watching it together very early- as a baby- because we used sign language a lot before my son learned to speak. He loved it all the way up until we wore out the disk, when he was 4 years old. As a bonus- there is an add-on section so when the kids learn all the words in the first version, you can play the extended version and it is like a whole new movie but with some words they already know. The boys really felt the positive reinforcement and love the characters.

I purchased this when my son was approximately 10 months. He watched it a few times. I tried it again after he was 1 years old and he still didnt show any interest. I tried another one to see if I would get the same results and he still was not interested.

In an effort to get an early start on teaching Words, I have selected Baby Einstein because my grand daughter is mesmerized by the music, tone and bright colors. Seriously when we try to video call with her, she keeps watching TV if the video is on.

It is used, and that was not made clear. The box is broken and it has a cheap wrapper. Not worth the price.
