> 3 dayUpdate #2 : Just bought myself a second AOC monitor, this time the 34 ultra wide 2k 144mhz. A very good monitor for gaming! So far Im liking this monitor a good deal. Its what Id expect. There is definitely better but absolutely nothing wrong with this one for the price point. You definitely want to have g-sync/adaptive sync off though. If youre getting this for that, then look elsewhere. But honestly both those features are pretty irrelevant IMO. Ive tested numerous gaming monitors from cheap to rich pig expensive and not one time was I ever like oh wow! That g-sync really made my experience better! In this monitors case, I find that it reduces performance while not improving picture quality much. Other than that its great.... no dead pixels, only slight ghosting on black screens, pixel response time is fast enough (again, as long as g-sync/adaptive sync are both turned off). Brightness is more than satisfactory for any room that isnt quite literally a room surrounded by glass windows. (outdoor use in the sun would be a bit rough, but who does that?) I have two primary complaints : 1) The curvature pretty much does nothing, as it is too slight for a monitor 27 or larger (i got the 27 here). Might be ok for a 24 or smaller. 2) Every single cable it came with was DEAD ON ARRIVAL. Even the power cord! This is the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Luckily I had higher quality versions already available to me. Id recommend this to any gamer who isnt a top tier e-sports player and wants to spend a reasonable (as opposed to excessive) amount of money on a good monitor. I WOULD NOT recommend this to anyone who thinks g-sync and adaptive sync are essential to their gaming. Obviously considering my cable issues, Id also recommend you purchase your own ahead of time.

> 3 dayI loved it when I got it. But I had 2, and both lasted barely 2 years. I just wont purchase from this company again, neither time did they offer any help either. Its a solid monitor. But 2 out of 2 didnt even last 2 years. I wouldnt recommend.

> 3 dayOn the AOC website, they claim the CQ27G3S has a response time of 1ms MPRT and 4ms GtG. I didnt believe the 4ms gtg would be such a big hit on the monitors ability to control ghosting, but darker scenes have a lot more noticeable ghosting. I tested ghosting using ufo test, so not really gaming environment, but it gives an idea on how the monitor reacts to certain scenes. Bright scenes are quite tame with almost no ghosting, while the darkest scene has the most noticeable. Overdrive setting on strong seems to lessen the length of the trail. Its not unplayable and for a VA panel, I didnt expect much. 7/10 165hz refresh rate is very nice because it allows for more smoother gameplay. I switched from a 60hz 4k to a 165hz 2k and the difference is huge. The quality of the image is about the same unless youre staring right at a single pixel looking for it. The only problem with the refresh rate is that 165hz is unstable. The actual monitor refresh rate fluctuates between 165hz and 160hz. It doesnt affect performance, however, its still a bit misleading. It is most stable at 144hz and does just as good. If you needed exactly 165hz for some reason, this monitor is not the best. The pixel density is very high for a small screen so the images are really clear. Anything above 28 for a 1440p/2k monitor is going to be poor. Coming from 4k 28 to 2k 27 there isnt much difference in image quality. Especially if you upscale resolution in games, its basically the same picture. 8/10 The colors also needed some work to get it perfect. There are three ways to make the screen brighter: brightness, contrast, and rgb settings. If you raise all of the rgb equally, the brightness also increases. Too high of a contrast will raise brightness, but also make all of the colors look weird. Adjust to your own preference. There is little to no back bleed. Only the slightest grey patch in the upper right corner, but unless youre in a completely dark room with a black screen playing, its completely unnoticeable. 9/10 The OSD menu is poorly developed. Modifying certain menu items will modify other related items, understandably so, however, it doesnt revert back to default. Which means if you have a good set up and modify your settings to experiment, you will lose your previous set up. Maybe not that big of a deal, but a peeve of mine. I wish it doesnt save until you hit a separate button to save. For now, it gets the job done, but if I ever wanted to change something, I would lose all my previous settings which is very unfortunate. 7/10 Its 2k at 27, 144hz stable refresh, curved VA, and affordable with a 4 year warranty against any manufacturer defect(dont quote me). Very much a worthy buy. 8/10

01-11-2024This product when I recieved it, said it was 165hz... After adjusting the properties on the pc, the highest setting was only 144hz... There also wasnt any instructions on how to adjust the hz itself on the moniters settings as well. But it is a good monitor and affordable... it isnt 165hz like it says it is.

> 3 dayAfter buying a ViewSonic monitor and being disappointed by the fact that it could not render 1440 P at 120 Hz on the Xbox series X, I decided to give this AOC monitor a try. To my delight all I had to do was plug it in and turn it on and immediately I was able to get 1440 P at 120 Hz and HDR 10 on both the PlayStation five and the Xbox series X without a problem. I wish I would’ve gone for this monitor on the first try. I highly recommend it, if you are looking for a quality gaming monitor don’t hesitate to buy this one. The AOC CQ27G3S is awesome!!
