Whiteside 6210 CNC Spoilboard Surfacing Router Bit, 1/4 Shank

> 3 dayIve read stellar reviews and have used this bit for a handful of projects that were spread out over about a month. Facing my spoilboard, and a couple MDF & Birch wood projects. I tried 1 epoxy inlay project and the bit was actually ripping out epoxy along each pass. This bit worked great at first. Not anymore. The edges of the but are not quite sharp anymore. Theyre actually polished looking, which lens me to believe that the carbide grade isnt that great and/or the relief grind is shallow. First off, I know for a fact that the relief being angle on this bit is very shallow. In the machining industry, relief grind is generally @3 degrees. This does not appear to be the case. The cutting edges are polished. One usually only seen this when machining extremely abrasive materials such as glass filled composites, titanium, or nickel based alloys. I highly recommend paying the extra money for insert bits.

> 3 dayGreat price. I recently bought a CNC machine and wanted to surface my waste board. This bit was exactly what I needed and within my budget.

27-10-2024Unfortunately this bit just didnt last long before it started burning the surface of my projects. I used this to surface pine boards ony CNC and it worked great at first but it wasnt long before it started having issues.

> 3 dayWish it could be a larger circumference, but pretty much all 1/4 collets are a 3/4 inch circumference. Did the job (flattening hardwood slab with router jig) very well.

> 3 dayI will admit, i just got this bit and Ive only flattened one walnut slab.. that being said, cuts like butter. I would be extremely surprised to find a better flattening bit at this price range that can perform as well. Awesome product!! Would love to try the 6220 when i can.

> 3 dayUsed this to cut a table top from a elm tree block of wood. Cut this without any problems and the bit is still sharp.

31-10-2024Bought this for surfacing my spoil board which was great. I don’t have a planer in the shop so decided to try planing some mahagony with it and that worked wonderful as well. Whiteside makes wonderful products at a great price point.

> 3 dayWorks as intended, and cheap enough to warrant keeping around. I use it for surfacing MDF wasteboards only, wouldnt use it to surface my actual workpiece I dont think.
