James McAvoy was just getting warmed up in this one, he is awesome in SPLIT. But this is a fun movie.

I watched this in a different time in my life, it is not necessarily a movie Id recommend now, due to its explicit content. Heres my original review: Just as the stunts in this movie defy logic, so do the plot and the characters motivations. Based off of the comic Mark Millar and J.G. Jones the movie makes little sense in and of itself (which is probably due to the fact it doesnt follow the comic much at all, it takes artistic liberties to new heights!), but none-the-less is enjoyable. The movie starts off briefly explaining the fraternity, and shows the death of one of its members and then quickly shows us the lead character Wesley (played by James Macavoy) explaining to us why his life sucks. His girlfriend is a b****, his best friend is a jerk, and his boss Janice constantly induces his anxiety attacks. While purchasing his anxiety medication he is confronted by a woman named Fox (Angelina Jolie) who claims that someone is trying to kill him, and then in the middle of the store engages in a gun fight, and takes Wesley on an insane car chase. He is brought to the fraternity head quarters and told that his father was a member and that Wesleys destiny is also to be in the fraternity as well. This movie has excessive amounts of profanity, and although it does not cite this in the most reviews I saw, some nudity (You see a dudes butt in the beginning part of the film, I love how male nudity is rarely considered nudity unless it is frontal). The violence is also excessive, but it is not on caliber with a horror film in that it does not show explicit details. It primarily has a lot of blood splatter shots, and no real detail like brains or disembowelments. The acting is as good as you can expect it to be in this type of movie since the twists the plot takes make no sense, nor do the choices of the characters make any sense. It is the wish-fulfillment qualities of this movie; such as cussing out your b***** boss and smacking your a**hole friend with a keyboard that makes it truly satisfying. The action is first rate, and as long as you are not bothered by excessive profanity and violence this is an enjoyable film. Just do not think too much or the whole movie will unravel, this isnt the type of movie that has to make sense, it is merely here for wish-fulfillment and eye candy, both in visual effects and Angelina Jolie. God bless ~Amy

Wesley Gibson is no one special. When he Googles himself, nothing comes up. He works at a job that he hates and thats so repetitive that hes developed a stress injury from doing a mind-numbing amount of nothing. His girlfriend is having an affair with his best friend, and both of them think hes too stupid to notice. And he has to take pills every day for anxiety attacks that make him feel as though hell lose control. Basically, hes going nowhere fast. Until one night hes standing in line to fill his prescription and the most beautiful woman hes ever seen (Angelina Jolie, who is truly stunning in this role) comes up beside him. She tells him that his father--who left when Wesley was only a week old--died the day before, and that the man who killed him is right around the corner. And then we have an amazing fight scene. Basically Wes learns from Fox (Jolie) that his father was an assassin, one of the best, and that he was killed by a rogue agent. The only person capable of killing this rogue is Wesley himself, and she and her friends will train him to do it. Wesley jumps at the opportunity to end the drudgery of his life, and begins training to become a member of the Fraternity, an elite group of assassins. Thats it in a nutshell, but this movie was so much more than a story about assassins. It was visually stunning, action packed, and didnt take itself too seriously. Wesley gets the crap kicked out of him while hes in training, but like a Timex, he takes a licking and keeps on ticking. These assassins are dangerous, versatile, and creative. They can bend bullets, make shots from impossible angles, and kill based on fate--not any sort of personal vendetta or hatred. But of course things arent as they seem, and Wesley has to learn that power comes with a price. Wanted is entertaining from start to finish, and Im generally not one for action films. Its the perfect date movie because while guys can stare at Jolie and enjoy the action, ladies can laugh at the jokes and enjoy the man candy. Everyone wins! If youre in the mood to be entertained with creative fight scenes and witty dialogue, youll definitely enjoy this film. In fact, I think Ill see it again next week. It was that good.

Wanted has some well-made action sequences and even some surprising plot twists. Angelina Jolie is actually okay in this. The main issue is just that the story is so incredibly hard to believe and is just there as an excuse to do some wild CGI effects, so it comes off as fake and gimmick, in the end the viewer feels let down and not satisfied.
