This headset is almost perfect for my needs. They are light and can be on for hours without too much discomfort and the battery life is ridiculous. Why does it matter? Because I needed them on my flight to Europe to be able to listen to downloaded movies. Noise reduction in the airplane ended up being much more than 95%… you heard that right :) to me it felt like almost complete noise reduction, so much that I could hear my breathing and could lower the overall sound levels to below 50%. In my hotel room, noise reduction was close to 100%… I had to turn off the ANR to hear the loud air conditioner again. Better than some sound isolation phone booths! Cons: ears can get warm but ok for airplane ride; voice passthrough for phone calls/teams calls is a little weird and takes getting used to; cost

Had the Bose 700: The voice was course and very loud. I got piss*d, threw the Bose and broke them. Just as well because I got these. Nothing like seeking noise protection and your protection screams in your ears. Also, the Bose didnt have the same rich Bose sound, just me. These: They protect as low as 4hz. They also dont hold the settings which is frustrating, so the four stars. Super battery that charges in minutes. The voice is low and soft. These are the best noise cancelling headphones yet.

Easily the best headphones I have ever owned. Pros: Best sound for the price Nice EQ settings (could be more advanced though) Clean & Modern Design Top tier ANC (Noice Cancellation) (better than Airpod Max) Cons: Not as portable as XM4s Not quite as padded as XM4, but still very comfortable to me (this is subjective) Pass through is not quite as good as Airpod Max (but remember ANC is better on XM5s)

I went from using some Skullcandy crushers to these. Initially I did not like how they sounded so thankfully the app has an EQ that you can use to change the sound. They are so much more comfortable than my old headphones. Overall, I would recommend these headphones.

I got this looking for a replacement for my AirPod Pros -- I would use them for work calls and for listening. My airpods were great for comfort,, but terrible for a full day of work, and the mic quality was not great for call applications that I use. So I did some research between these headphones and other over-ear headphones like AirPod Maxes, Bose QC. I was mainly deciding between these and the AirPods since I use entirely Apple devices and went with the Sonys for price and supposedly good comfort. So here are my pros/cons after about 3 months with these: Pros: - I have a huge head and I generally have stayed away from over ear headphones for long periods of listening. These are inarguably the most comfortable headphones I have ever used. I am able to last a full 8 hour office job wearing these without too much sweat or heat, and the pressure is perfect. No headaches from wearing them all day, and its overall been absolutely perfect. In comparison to the AirPods maxes (that I used for a day from my partner) that gave me an incredibly painful headache from the pressure after an hour of use. - Battery life / charging is amazing. 30 hours may be the industry standard but whenever Im low, I just give it a charge for five minutes and Im basically good for the next few hours. Cons: - I listen to a variety of music from hip hop and mostly electronic music. For songs with more emphasis on acoustics and vocals, the headphones are pretty good. However for my electronic library it leaves a bit to be desired. The bass and sometimes mids feel very muddy, and no amount of EQ I use can get it to where I like for all my music. This is where AirPods Maxes shine out. They may be 200$ more but they are inarguably better sounding with their adaptive EQ. - Not really at any fault of Sonys, but if you use Apple products you cant use the LDAC codec at all. You are missing out on a better sound quality on Apple, and can only really use LDAC with Android.

I loved my MX3s. I still have them and when I got the MX5s I tested them. The equalizer and sound is better. The ANC, though? No. Its not great at all, and the app does not help make it any easier--like all of Sonys stuff, they overdo the app and make it hard to easily use, tiny buttons, and slow slow slow response on my iPhone 14 pro. The worst part is the case and lack of foldability. While I love how light these are, they dont fold like my MX3, making them bulky and hard to pack. I will not use the case it weighs almost as much as the headphones. Why they dont fold is beyond me and poor design. While I love the pause when you take them off, if you wear them around your neck theyll restart again immediately and the touch buttons are too sensitive and do the same thing. I was willing to live with them until I tried a friends Airpod Max. While those are way pricier, Im sold on those--way more comfy and the sound is better, plus they fold. I was hoping for much better for these, but not it. The reviews with all the audiophiles gushing over the ANC are horsehockey--simply not that great. The bulkiness and the poor app design (an ongoing reason Sony lost the phone and electronics battle) dont help, either.

Just get a cheaper version or wait for this to reduce in price. Very much not worth the price

I bought these headphones and completely fell in love with them… only until I realized how incompatible they were if you weren’t a android user—so much so, I ended up returning them because of my frustration and fatigue with its interface. If you use Apple products like I do, the headphones features like “360 audio” (which was a huge selling point for me) only works when you download an app for the headphones, and then again only works with certain apps and websites, not all audio like Apple Music or Spotify. I found this to be a huge let down and was even more annoyed I needed these myriad of apps to utilize a huge selling feature of the headphones. Besides the compatibly issue the headphones were amazing: great design, amazing audio, and great battery life yet, ultimately for me it’s overly complicated ways and hoops to jump through as an Apple user is what steered me away here. I instead bought the Apple AirPods Max, equally great sound quality, superior design, and elite performance, plus they are insanely and easily comparable with every thing Apple which was a huge selling point for me. Plus, their “spatial audio” (the same thing as “360 degree audio”) actually works seamlessly, which numerous apps, without jumping through hoops. (Also random tidbit—the Sony headphones get extremely hot and sweaty after you wear them for too long. Apples do not, insanely comfortable and breathable for hours on end).

I love the feature that allows me to put my hand on one headphone ear and hear my surroundings.
