I love this for laminate and hardwood floors. Very good on rugs as it does eat the rug. Doesnt have a lot of suction for carpet or removing pet hair. I do love it though.

As a professional house cleaner, I was looking for a lightweight easily portable vacuum to replace the Oreck handheld makeshift backpack I had been using. This shark vacuum is much better. For the sake of comparing similar items(oreck handheld aside), I would like to compare it to the Dyson Animal v6 model (I have used several times at a client house). The Shark has a cord. Its cord is the perfect length for a cord. I have used it in multiple houses and it doesnt get tangled, yet I dont have to keep unplugging and plugging it back in because it cant reach another room. The Dyson is wonderfully cordless and powerful. Dyson also has a battery life of maybe 20 min on the max setting before needing to be recharged, 30 or so if its on the normal setting. This shark has all the maneuverability of the dyson, maybe even better. It fits between all the chair legs I can find and has a low enough profile to slip under a lot of furniture. Also love the lights on the shark, they let you know where the dirt and hair is and you can see it lift up, and there are lights on the smaller handheld part too! Switching from the floor sweeper to the long nozzle to get into corners and cracks couldnt be easier, it can be done with a toe touch and pulled off single handedly (good design). The dyson animal cannot do that. The dust canister on the shark holds a lot and can be emptied and cleaned (the manual says to wash the filters monthly, it has washable filters, yay!) The dust canister on the dyson is awkward to empty and damn near impossible to clean, and there are hairs that always get caught up by the mesh that you cant get to by just emptying it, you have to pry the whole thing open with a tool and pray to the dyson gods that you wont break the thing while youre simply trying to clean it. The biggest complaint that I have about the shark is that it is top heavy. You cannot simply stand it up in the middle of a room, it must be laid down or propped carefully against a wall. It is not as lightweight as I had hoped, but considering the price tag, Im giving it a pass. Lightweight? Yes, but its not the best gift for granny as it is top heavy and a little clunky. Im 54 tall and the shark feels a little too tall for me, but that might just be a personal preference. I would recommend the shark for anyone who wants a versatile vacuum that is easy to use and affordable, but dont expect featherweight. It goes from hard floors to rugs and carpet with ease. Its good with pet hair, human hair, and cat litter. I still do not think it is the ultimate portable vac for professional house cleaners, but for regular house cleaning, this is a great machine. The dyson is for a wealthy grandma with one cat who vacuums every day and has a service center or grandchild that will clean it once in a while.

This vacuum is a God send! I can’t say enough good things. It’s very very easy to maneuver. The head of it is able to swivel, so it’s easy to access corners of a room. It’s also small, but that is a plus!! You can get anywhere with this vacuum. Its size does not at all interfere with the vacuums performance. I also love how you are able to detach the plate under the brush so you can clean out allll the hair that you’ve vacuumed up. It’s such an easy to use vacuum. It pretty much drives itself around lol. I lost track of time vacuuming because I was as enjoying it. Sounds crazy, but the pick up power of this vacuum is off the charts. Good job Shark!

This is a great vacuum. Easy to change attachments on and the balance is awesome. Very comfortable working on the floor and overhead. Might but another for work.

Disclosure - I am writing this under my husbands name. The beginning of December (2022) my faithful Shark Rotator ZU782 basically fell apart. I had purchased it in 2019 and it had great suction until the end - the body just plain wore out. I am hard on vacuums. I live in the woods, I have several pets, 4 grandchildren 5 and under, and a fireplace. The vacuum gets hauled up and down steps, and used on both hardwood and carpet. And I am a clean freak. 2-4 years seems to be how long a vacuum lasts for me. After checking out the latest research on pet friendly vacuums, I switched to the Shark NV501. Because I had had such good luck with the Shark, I chose to stay with the brand, and this model kept coming up as one of the best for families with pets. After about a week of harried, distracted, pre-Christmas use, I went to vacuum under the bed only to realize it wouldnt fit. My large coon hound hides under there at the first threat of thunder, so though I dont vacuum under there daily, I do after every storm. That was a deal breaker for me, but it had had a week of use, the box was long gone and I figured I was stuck with it. It also did a mediocre job removing cat hair off furniture, and felt less sturdy than my older ZU782. After fretting about it for most of the month I decided to spring for something else. This time I made sure it would fit under the bed, and read every customer review I could find, instead of the experts opinions. I chose this Shark HV322 Rocket Pet Plus instead of a canister model. Its pretty amazing! It does an even better job than the NV501 vacuuming up pet hair (and cat litter and Christmas tree needles) on hardwood, carpet and furniture. It maneuvers easily, (even easier than my ZU782) fits under beds and almost all the way under sofas. The attachments are super easy to use. I couldnt be happier with this little gem. I am going to keep the NV501 in our finished basement, but wish I had assessed it more thoroughly the day it arrived. I hope this lengthy review helps YOU choose the right vacuum for YOU. This is also the cheapest of the 3 models mentioned. Today my old ZU782 is $288.95, the NV501 is $235.45, and the HV322 Rocket is $179.99.

I love this sweeper, it has great suction that gets up dog hair easily. Light weight with lots of power. I recommend this item.

We have bought this 5 times! We gave one to each of our daughters. We bought one for our vacation rental, and this is our second one after we had used our first one for years. What I like most: I love that I can remove the disposal cup from the vacuum to dump the stuff it has picked up right into the garbage can. Some vacuums you have to take the entire head of the vacuum off to dump it and is messier. I can see from the disposal cup how much dirt, dust and dog hair I am picking up. I feel the suction is strong enough for everything, without being too strong for my oriental rugs. There is also the ability to reduce the suction. Various versions come with different attachments, so you have to make sure the on you are ordering has the extras you were looking for (pet brush, wall hanger, etc.) Lastly, I have carpal tunnel and neuropathy and the ease of using this, which is why we switched to a different style vacuum, is I can handle it without issue.

Edit - 12/2/18: I still love this vacuum! It functions as well as it did on day one, and cleaning the filters every month is super easy. Being bagless, I love that you don’t have to keep buying things as you go. Also, I just got new, high pile, thick shag rugs a few weeks ago, and I was a little worried they would snag on this vacuum because of the reviews some people left on the rug site, but I haven’t had any problems with this vacuum! I just use the first setting and don’t stay too long in one spot. When I want to get trickier things like dog hair off the rugs, I use the special motorized pet attachment and it works really well without snagging the rug at all. You won’t be disappointed with this vacuum! The one thing that is a little annoying is the crevice tool sometimes falls off if you’re jostling around the vacuum a lot (which you will, because this thing is so flexible and goes everywhere), so just make sure to really stick it on there when you put it back. I also love how easily everything comes apart and new attachments slide on. Everything glides and fits so well, and it feels sturdy. I vacuum once or twice a day because of my dog’s double coat, so it really has stood the test of time. I would definitely buy this vacuum again if I had to! Original - 6/26/17: Omg, I didnt think it was possible but I am in LOVE with this vacuum cleaner. Im the type of person who painstakingly researches all of my purchases before going through with them, and this vacuum was no exception. The reviews were great but this vacuum surpassed my expectations. It is light enough to be able to vacuum comfortably but it packs some serious sucking power. I used to have an inexpensive handheld before I got my American Eskimo Dog, and it showed to be no match for his extreme shedding. I was stressing out because a lot of models, even specifically pet ones, had many negative reviews about the hair getting caught and having to stop and remove it several times each vacuuming session. This product has been amazing and Ive never had a problem with anything, especially hair getting caught. I also have long hair (to approximately my mid-back) that winds up everywhere... Sometimes I wonder how I have any left on my head. This vacuum picks everything up like a champ. I clean the roller after every few sessions to ensure there arent any problems. I have a 650 square foot apartment with tile (kitchen and bathroom), laminate flooring everywhere else, and several area rugs (two of them are thick, shaggy ones that my dog loves to lounge on). The True Pet motorized attachment cleans them like brand new in a matter of minutes. Youll be amazed (and maybe horrified) at what it picks up from carpet/rugs. I empty the canister once per session or so when I vacuum the whole apartment, which is great considering how much it picks up. I cant even begin to tell you how pleasant it is to do everything with this vacuum. Moving it, swapping out attachments, and even detaching the handheld top portion to use by itself is a dream. Everything glides in and out so smoothly. I had to struggle with my previous vacuum to attach the various pieces which was really frustrating and led to chipped nails and an annoying experience. It also overheated several times during each session and would shut itself off, so I couldnt clean the whole apartment with it at once. This model never overheats or loses power. You dont realize how much little things like that matter until you have something better. The vacuum has two suction settings: powerful and tornado (not really but youll see how strong it is). It is not too loud though which is really nice. It also has washable filters so paired with the bagless canister, you dont have to waste money replacing these items. The close to $200 price tag seemed a little high to me at first, but after looking around and seeing how high other models go and compared to how amazing this one is, I cant imagine myself using anything else. It makes it a joy to clean. It stores nicely either on the floor (you remove the top handheld portion and hook it on the bottom) or there is a wall attachment. It takes up very little floor space and honestly, it looks nice so you wont mind if it is visible. There are also lights on both the main floor attachment and the handheld attachment which are amazing. You can see all the little dirt and debris and can even vacuum in the dark if you want to (when picking up dog hair its actually almost easier to do so in the dark because of how well these lights work, especially at angles). This vacuum will not disappoint you.

I have 7 cats and only 4 areas with carpet, so I didnt need a big vacuum since most of my home is hard flooring. Found the HV322 when it was 43% off, so $150 for a vacuum wasnt a bad cost. Ended up filling the cup twice using it for the first time in my smallest bedroom and let me tell you, that was eye opening. Im sure any brush roller vacuum would have done the same job but what I like about the Shark is: -lightweight -easy to maneuver -2 power modes -bright light -decently long cord -easy to remove dust trap -brush roller indicator light -quick release is high on the stick so you can separate the motor portion, add a crevice tool and hit those tight spots -caught it at a good sale price What I dont like about it: -doesnt stand upright on its own -dust bin requires you to use your hands to clean out fuzz/hair that collects around the filter. Not a huge deal but does make the process a bit messy. -absolutely worthless on hard floors. Youll feel all the trash get kicked back onto your feet and legs from the rollers. This is on the low setting, which Im guessing the brush rollers only turn from the air being pulled past them and not powered by the vacuum. Still, at that low setting, its too much brush action. I have 2 x Mieles I use for hard floors and nothing will ever beat them at that.
