SAMSUNG T5 Portable SSD 1TB - Up to 540MB/s - USB 3.1 External Solid State Drive, Black (MU-PA1T0B/AM)

I use it every day, for about a year now, never had problems.

First of all, I did not initially get great results in read/write speeds. I installed a USB 3.1 gen 2 PCIE card and ordered a new USB 3.1 gen 2 cable...then tested again with MP4 files, music files, etc. My results were MUCH better. I ran CrystalDiskMark 6.0.2 X64 and got 558.5 mbps reads and 518.4 mbps writes. On a regular USB 3.0 slot, I was around 340/345. So, if your connections are up to this drives capabilities, youll see phenomenal results. I use this drive for backups on my laptop (and to transfer files from my PC)...and Im very happy with it. I have purchased a few portable SSDs from other companies and this is my 3rd Samsung I have and I love all of them. I purchased this to run other operating systems on my MacBook Pro using Parallels, Instead of taking up my internal SSD space I moved them to this drive and it runs just as fast as the internal. Since the unit is so small and already USB-C its easy to carry along in my bag and takes no space so I always have my other operating systems available. For me 1TB is the perfect size for all my files and systems. I also use another Samsung 1TB drive to store VST/AU instruments for Logic and Ableton and it causes no performance issues compared to the internal.

This is a tremendous device. Access is fast, storage is vast, and portability is great!

Great portable drive, use a 1TB every day for a commercial application, fast access, never chunks even on large copies, a must have backup solution.

The drive is excellent. Small and fast. I’ve had one of a year and just purchased another to mirror them for redundancy. Two terabytes in such a small package is amazing. The name, T5, is deceptive — it gives the impression of being 5 Terabytes. Minor point, of course. The drive is truly outstanding.
