This is a simple gigabit switch in a compact package. Same form factor as the 10/100 switch 5 port switch (also NetGear) I replaced. Got a NetGear NightHawk router too! Really enjoying the speed/bandwidth boost!

What can you say about a NETGEAR switch aside from the fact it just works great? Literal plug n play setup and all the ease youd expect at a low price. I purchased this to expand the home network from my 12 year old NETGEAR 5 slot switch (which was aces too).

Im thinking this was purchased somewhere else. It was Amazons reviews that helped make a decision to buy. Reading through these reviews it looked like heat and/or a poor power supply would result in switch failure. Placing 1 fan below and 1 fan beside kept things cool. A similar but .5 Amp higher power supply was found. My switch failed last night. All 14 computers lost net. Looking it up would tell me exactly when but it has been about 6 months. Yes turning it off and back on will persuade it to function again. Most people would agree that jumping up from what your using internet for to reboot a switch is not acceptable. Netgears ProSafe gigabit switches with 5 or 8 ports have worked wonderfully. This one has a problem.

This works perfect for the home office and group of network connect video game consoles. I never use more than 3 devices at once and havent seen any issues with slow down or lack of bandwidth.

Exactly what I needed

The unit works as advertised, but the power cable input jack is on the front of the unit. Poor ergonomic design
