LG UltraFine UHD 27-Inch 4K UHD 2160p Computer Monitor 27UN850-W, IPS with VESA DisplayHDR 400, AMD FreeSync, and USB-C, White

We have an office full of LG 32UN880-B monitors, which were out of stock, so we ordered this one for about the same price. Side by side, this monitor has terrible viewing angles and is far more washed out than our other LG displays. Very disappointed in the quality of this monitor vs other LG HDR monitors.

I use macbook pro and this display is always connected to MacBook pro. In the first couple of months, the monitor worked fine with maintained speed. However, eventually it started acting pretty sluggish while working on common tasks like safari surfing, excel edits. I wouldnt recommend this monitor for heavy duty work where you are connecting with external keyboard, mouse and working on multiple software at a time. I really wished if the refund period was extended to larger period and not limited to just 30 days.

Soy diseñador profesional y calibrador con la marca X rite de hace más de 10 años. Este monitor de 32 ultrafine debería costar máximo $445 con la opción de calibrador por aparte o como el modelo de 27 que no lo incluye. El tratamiento anti reflejo es semi matte pero no tiene un polarizado que ayude a mejorar los negros. El calibrador es simple y exclusivo para este tipo de modelos ips black pero con maña se puede usar en otros modelos, no es competencia para el xrite i1 studio. Cosas ilógicas el software de Lg, permite calibrar todos los perfiles menos el perfil HDR, lo cual es ilógico para un modelo de estos precios muestra la inferioridad de calibrador incluido. Destaco los 10 bits nativos de color y la cobertura del 98% del DCI P3, pero fuera de esos 2 detalles el monitor no cumple con sus supuestas mejoras a los IPS ultrafine o los PLS como mi antiguo Asus PB278Q. Se nota mucho el ips Glow lo cual pierde la experiencia de ese negro profundo, he visto más profundidad de negro en VA o PLS o AHVA, hablando en como ejemplo en escenas con mucho negro donde la debilidad se nota. Si destaco que color cuandos se muestra en imágenes normales en pantalla completa, no se nota tanto este error, pero al mínimo de una escena oscura salga o vea un contenido con barras negras vera lo inferior de la calidad de iluminación y el tratamiento del semi mate. Marcas chinas como INNOCN Mini LED de 32 (8+2) pueden ser una mejor opción que este modelo eso si teniendo en cuenta los contras que no incluye calibrador ni es 10 bits puro. Al final lo compre en una rebaja temporal, y quería pasarme a un monitor de 32, pero pienso que el precio correcto debe ser máximo $500 con el calibrador. Mi unidad posee un ligero sangrado en la parte inferior del panel en ambas esquinas y un leve sangrado superior izquierdo. Actualización 27 Feb 2023: El software de calibración suele aparecer de manera regular sin abrirlo. El ICC profile tanto v4 como v2 que se instalan en windows generan problemas de color en photoshop, tocando tener que quitarlos y confiar en la calibración por hardware que supuestamente queda grabada en el monitor digo supuesta porque el software no permite revisar donde se guarda dentro del monitor. Nunca tuve un problema de icc profile con Xrite solo con 3d max lo cual me hizo seguir usando el version 2 por compatibilidad.

Not the greatest monitor I’ve ever owned but not bad for the price. Only gripes: 1. The arching stand is atheistically pleasing but functionally ridiculous. Takes up a great deal of real estate on the desk and does not seem as stable as a more traditional monitor stand. 2. Why on earth would anyone send the manual on CD in the year 2023? Either print out a one pager on how to navigate the menu system or give us a QR code to find it on your website. I just want to plug and play, not go through a wild goose chase to find out how to use all the features I paid for.

Theres no auto-switch for input source??? What the hell LG are we living in 2023???

EDIT: There is On-Screen control for Mac users on newer models its just that LG kind of dropped the ball on making it easy for Mac users to find and install it. On LG.com go to Support, then Software & Drivers. Don’t use the search field they provide because for many model numbers it will say there is no matching product. Scroll down, click on monitors and search for your model manually. If your model doesn’t have a Mac download try the next closest monitor to your model. Also, worth pointing out is that 27UN850-W is the newest model and 27UL850-W is the previous model. They are both practically the same with very minor spec differences but the newest one is currently cheaper by almost $100. ---------- Heads up, their advertised On-Screen Control including Screen Split is not available to MacBook users with this monitor. In fact basically only ONE model is supported! And apparently according to other user reviews that one doesnt even have the basic functionality advertised. So just keep that in mind when purchasing an LG monitor if you are a Mac user. With that said, if that is not a deal breaker for you this is still an excellent monitor.

I was debating for a while whether to get a larger ultra-wide monitor (my current one was 38) or to get two monitors instead. Even pre covid I worked primarily from home and am on my computer all of my waking hours. The ultra-wide was rarely ever beneficial to me. Ive got major attention deficit and always have multiple windows open. There was never any need to have an application fill an entire 34 wide screen and most of the space would be unused. Even with pbp, the screen is really too compact to feel truly comfortable. With two of these LG monitors, it really makes more sense for my use case. I have a full 27 inches for my work computer and another 27 inches for my personal Macbook. I can have zoom up all day and Slack without having to minimize anything. When work is done, I switch that one over to my gaming PC and now I have two computers for play. Having two monitors also really gives me the ability to free up some space believe it or not. I no longer have one long cumbersome panel smack dab in the middle of my desk. I have two monitors I can push aside as I see fit (I also mounted them on two separate gas spring arms on opposite ends of the desk.) I have much more freedom with my space now.

This is a beautiful display at a decent price. Not great, not terrible. It matches my 27 iMac quite well in terms of color and brightness. Its not perfect, but its close. The antiglare surface is also nice for smoothing out bright spots behind you. There are myriad ways to connect to the monitor from your computer, I used the display port and it works well. It connects easily enough to my desks VESA display mount, but I wish there was some way to adjust the vertical alignment. I believe that part is more something I will need to do with the hardware I have. My biggest problem with this monitor is the lack of direct physical controls on the device. Everything is done through the on screen menu. And, as of the time of this review, there is no software for Mac to control the brightness of the monitor. So you only have the little nub in back, behind the LG logo to access all the settings (see photo). There is no automatic brightness adjustment so that when ambient light changes, the monitor changes the brightness of the screen. It takes 4 button actions just to get to the brightness setting. Once you are in the Brightness setting, there are 100 steps between the highest and lowest settings, which is overkill. 12-20 steps is plenty. My old display from ASUS had two buttons on the bottom of the monitor to control the brightness directly. It has a super thin bezel around the top and sides; about 0.25. The bottom is about 0.75. As a secondary 4K display this is a nice choice, just be aware of the little things that can make your experience less enjoyable.

DCI-P3 98% coverage, brain dead color calibration, 4k, 32in, and the blacks are similar to my va monitors. Checks all the boxes off my list. The refresh rate could be higher but that doesnt matter for my work so this is a 5 stars from me. Nice value from what I can tell.

Easy - connect your PC with display port, use one of the HDMI inputs for your 4k Roku stick, do some PC tasks, then take a break and watch a movie on Netflix or Amazon. **Nice bright picture with HDR. You can adjust picture mode individually in display port, and HDMI, etc. I have it set for HDR effect for both DP and HDMI. **Having an IPS panel means super rich, and vibrant colors. **Also, 350 nits of brightness is plenty bright for HDR! Note: This LG 27UN850-W 27 Inch Ultrafine UHD Monitor also has a USB C-port that can charge your laptop or cell phone. Allows you to display whats on your cell, or laptop directly on the monitor just by plugging into the USB C-port, while also charging the connected device. ***I have NOT used the USB C-port yet, as I purchased this monitor mainly for connecting my Dell desktop PC using the Display Port, and for using my 4K Roku stick (HDMI port) for watching NETFLIX and AMAZON Prime movies.
