> 3 dayIf your chicks have their wings open against the warm surface, trying to capture as much warmth as they can, they arent warm enough. If their position is normal, theyre probably warm enough but use a thermometer. I use a warm pad and a 50-75 watt light bulb. That way if the lightbulb burns out, as has happened to me, they still have warmth. I start at at about 90 or 95 degrees, then drop temps 5 degrees/week. If they are too hot theyll get off the mat. Once they are feathered out and nighttime temps are above 50 degrees, theyre probably safe. Thats the rule of thumb Ive even used for Emu chicks!

> 3 dayThis heat pad worked great for our hedgehog for months. Then one day I smelled burning plastic in my daughters room. It took a while to identify the origin, but after checking all the outlets and reptile enclosures, we finally found this heating pad with a melted hole in the plastic showing silver material inside. The smell is only now really leaving her room after several days. I had purchased this highly recommended by hedgie owners as low temperature and safe. I wish I had taken pictures of the damage. I am glad my daughter didnt get into danger sleeping in the same room as the malfunctioning unit.

Greater than one weekWorks as advertised, very durable and perfect for helping our aging bunny (who has lost a lot of weight as he ages) stay warm. He slipped on the pad until we got the cover. With the cover he’s on it all the time! He did chew the plastic coating of the conduit but it had no effect on the rabbit or cord. It’s bunny proof. Great product!

> 3 dayTo start off with, this heater seemed to be well made with an easy to clean surface. It had a good temperature, and my hedgehog LOVED to lay on it and warm her belly. However after two months of use I noticed Winnie (my hedgehog) was all balled up in the corner for some reason. After nudging her and getting no response I realized that the heater had shut off. So I promptly checked to make sure it was still plugged in and verified that the outlet was working by plugging in a lamp. Now for some animals a failure of a heater isn’t the end of the world, but when it comes to hedgehogs it’s literally life or death, right now I’m trying to get her back up to temperature and I really hope that she won’t die due to freezing all night long. For anyone who has similar pets and decides to go with this brand, I’d recommend buying two so you have a backup for when the first one burns out. Otherwise you’ll find yourself heating hot water bottles and waiting a week for a replacement heater to show up.

> 3 dayI bought this for my pet guinea pigs but I will not let my sweet girl sit on this. I tested it by placing my hand on it even by putting two layers of her fleece blankets over it. Its so hot that my hands sweat and I personally think it could even burn her if she lays on it too long. I was really hoping for a good small pet heating pad and I love everything about its ability to be chew proof but of course, I cant risk my pets life. Amazon refunded me. Also, to those reviews that said that the product melted, I wouldnt be so surprised after testing it as I did.

> 3 dayProduct is of excellent quality. Not too hot for the little ones. Fantastic purchase. I recommend purchasing the cover as well. BEWARE NOT TO LEAVE A BUNCH OF BEDDING ON TOP OF THE HEATER OR IT WILL GET TOO HOT!

> 3 dayLove that its ready to use right out of the box. But my bun figured out how to pull the cord into the cage and chewed it up. But they were very kind and sent me a new one. I have rigged it to where she cant pull the cord in or even get to it when out by using an x pen.
