House of Dark Shadows (DVD)

A rehash and condensing of some of the original plot from the serial, this film makes up for in slick what it lacks in charm. Good performances by all, but a stand-out performance by Emmy-winner John Karlen as Willie Loomis, the man who releases the vampire on the community. As in the tv show, his character changes and evolves, and it is this continuity that makes House of DS more than just a horror flick. The pathos in Willie is what makes this film worth watching again and again. I hope they release it on DVD!

I loved Dark Shadows the series but this movie was horrible!

The movie was too short to adequately tell the story. I did enjoy it though since I had never seen the original 1,200+ episode series only the remake.

We all remember seeing this for the first time in the theatres. Now you can see it on Blu Ray high def Got to love it

Ive enjoyed the movie in a VHS cassette format which didnt carry any closed-caption benefits within, hence my buying the DVD with those benefits - thank you so much for this job!!

I saw House of Dark Shadows when it first came out in the theatres and as the years went by I got it in VHS form and then it never seemed to get to the DVD market. I was thrilled when it came out on dvd. I dont know why it took so long. House of Dark Shadows is beautiful to look at and I am very happy to have the movie to add to my Dark Shadows collection.

Not nearly as good as the series. Im a big fan, but come on, this movie bites...no pun intended

Oh my goodness...... Dan Curtis has done it again, why is it that every time I watch this movie and its original TV series that I feel like Im part of the family??? It literally takes you into their world. This movie was fantastic!!! Watched it 3 times since it arrived, cant get enough of them, I considered to be part of the Collins family.
