> 3 dayWas shipped in an open ESD bag and made very loud noises during read/write. Bought in August and has already failed in March, didnt even last a year. Also the warranty apparently expired in 2015, like others have said these arent actually new drives and warranty will not cover them.

13-11-2024Do not buy this. I received this hard drive and installed it the same day. Turned my computer on and received a warning message that my hard drive may fail and to Replace it. Took it into a computer shop and was informed that the hard drive was a referbished drive and was no good.

Greater than one weekDecent for the price. Was hoping it would work in my Apple Xserve but it’s not a compatible hitachi. Overall tho it’s not bad. Seemed brand new old stock.

> 3 dayDead on Arrival. screeches loudly upon startup, not detectable in bios. not much else to say. Almost glad they saved me the trouble, it seems these drives are dated, and refurbished or just straight up used. Ive heard good things about Hitachi drives, i hope this is just the seller jerking people around.

Greater than one weekThe warranty on these drives is quite confusing. On one hand, the description of the drive states that they have a limited five year warranty. Yet, when the vendors are contacted they claim it only has a one year warranty. I was assured by a couple of vendors that the five year Hitachi warranty no longer applies to these older drives. Of course, most were happy to quote a warranty that extended coverage on these drives to a full five years (at up to $80/drive additional), as per the warranty description here on the Amazon website. Amazon should revise their warranty description for these drives as my experience indicates that five years is incorrectly specified in the Amazon technical description. Theyve the reputation of being excellent enterprise drives though. What to do, what to do?

> 3 dayMy only complaint is that the drive seems lazy. If its not spinning, it takes 4-10 seconds to spin up and load the window. Also, I decided on this HDD after a few months of sitting on components before I bought anything. I checked before adding to my cart and it was at ~$50, then a few hours after I added it to my cart it shot up to like $75. A lot of sellers do this, jsyk
