> 24 hourMy only complaint is that the drive seems lazy. If its not spinning, it takes 4-10 seconds to spin up and load the window. Also, I decided on this HDD after a few months of sitting on components before I bought anything. I checked before adding to my cart and it was at ~$50, then a few hours after I added it to my cart it shot up to like $75. A lot of sellers do this, jsyk

> 24 hourIm following in Weis footsteps. Bought a Synology 1511+ and put 5 of these drives in it. My glowing review of the Synology speaks for itself - best in class. These drives compliment it, and have not missed a beat with heavy use. They are high performance, quiet, reliable, and trouble free. Ive always had that with Hitachi. Highly recommended.

> 24 hourAnother time the quote: “You get what you pay for” become very true. 2TB for $69.95 per each did not ring the bell loud enough, or I didn’t want to hear it. Also I was not careful and I did not read the feedback (refer to the review provided by another unlucky customer on August 11, 2014). I purchased 2 Hard Drives. Both of them are extremely loud, 1 of 2 is bad (not able to create a partition). Both drives were manufactured in December 2009, yes – only 5 years old. There were used (probably working 24/7 on some server – but this statement is only my guess, other statement are facts). The drives were sold by New World IT. I’ve just requested a return and refund for these 2 drives (1 completely defective). Waiting for confirmation from the seller (again - New World IT). Good thing is that this purchase was thru Amazon, so if I experience any difficulties – I will contact Amazon, and provide the update to this review. Please note that this review is more about the people who are providing unethical practice vs. a manufacturer or drives that simply wear over time. Thank you

> 24 hourIt makes a horrid sound and read/writes at about 60mb/s. Had to format it myself which took about an hour or two. (Two terabytes is a lot to format). Sounds like someone rolling around on a creaky bed. Im afraid its going to snap the actuator arm in half or something, its so loud. My friend said to not buy Hitachi and I see now why it was so cheap... Spend a little extra money for something of better quality

> 24 hourI recently picked up a Synology DS1511+ NAS and wanted good hard drives to put in them so that it would not hinder its performance. The Hitachi Ultrastar is a server grade hard drive that combines durability with eco-friendliness. While most green drives run at 5400 to 5900RPM, the Ultrastar operates at 7200RPM and knows when to power down when not needed. Overall, I am very pleased with these units will look forward to future 3 TB versions of the drive. During my initial data dump from 4 existing hard drives (internal drive, another NAS, and 2 USB external drives) to my RAIDed setup in the DS1511+, I was able to get consistent 75-90MB/s write speeds for 10+ hours. I did think these drives were a bit loud in the beginning but now that were using it more for reads instead of writes, the drives and the NAS are running a lot quieter. If you are using your NAS mainly for backup, archiving and storage, then you may want to look into other green drives as they are a ton cheaper and do work very well for those purposes. If you need your NAS to be a media hub, streaming music, photos and HD movies to a number of PCs in the house at the same time, then you may want to look at one of these drives. Yes, they are a bit expensive and may even be overpriced for home use but the warranty and quality makes up for it. Nothing is more annoying than lost data or hiccups during media playback. With these drives, you can relax comfortably knowing theyll do their jobs.
