I bought this monitor for both work (coding) and gaming. Ill start by saying that the monitor delivers what it claims to, however, I was disappointed by the overall quality. Pros: - Image and Colors look good (with some tinkering) - It does deliver the features it claims to: 144+Hz, G-Sync, EyeCare etc. - Comes with decent length DP/HDMI cables - There are quite a few preset modes/options in the monitors menu to tinker with and find what suits you Cons: - Build quality feels lackluster - The connections felt a bit misplaced and I had trouble using the DP port. - On my monitor There are 2 (relatively) small dots that seem to have been missed by the coating material, They are much brighter and noticeable on white background. This was not a deal breaker but still quite annoying. - Speakers: Really BAD. I realize build in speakers is not really a requirement for most people. Personally, Im on the computer for many hours a day, and most is for work, so I prefer it over headphones most of the times. I did not expect great sound quality but the sounds come out kind of metallic (Not sure how to describe it) And it actually really hurts my ears and gives me a headache. So... yeah... better assume theyre not there :) - Despite the various modes/options I mentioned above, Some just make the colors look weird and others are not clear about their purpose. The main thing is that most of them cannot be changed when youre in game, so you have to kinda set the options and kinda review the effects from your head until you find what suits you. To conclude, I am somewhat disappointed about the overall quality but I do think that for its price you definitely get your moneys worth. Hope you find this helpful and GAME ON!

Used 3 of these monitors for a three-screen setup for playing World of Warcraft. They worked fine from Sept. 2021 until Feb of 2023. Nothing special, but serviceable. Then one of them developed vertical purple lines over the right hand side of the monitor. Switching the inputs didnt help, but switching the monitors did, meaning the problem was not somehow in the computer signal to the monitors, but the monitor itself.

I am a software developer by trade and so having a screen with higher than 1080p resolution is pretty much a must. This allows text to be super sharp. This monitor also has incredible brightness, and it is noticeably brighter than my other monitors (old Asus 1080p Pro Art displays). I usually run it at 75% brightness while the other ones I have run at 90%-100%. The color accuracy here is also pretty good. My 10-bit display has slightly more color range, but this is better than anything else I have tried. As a gamer, having 144hz in higher than 1080p is insane. I never realized how badly I needed this until I had it. Now that I am here, I could not go back to 1080p (unless my GPU randomly dies during this drought). The only major complaint I have is the power adapter is outside of the monitor which means I have to secure this fat dongle-like thing to my monitor arm in order for it not to be a big deal. Why did they move the power supply to outside the monitor, I have no idea. Overall if you can get this for ~$350, Id say go for it.

Im not a hardcore gamer, I use this mostly for web development and little gaming here and there and cant speak to the some of the more avid pros that complain about the HDR, nits or it not supporting the latest Display Port version, but damn is this monitor amazing! Like stunningly amazing. I upgraded from a pretty good 24in 1080p IPS 1ms monitor to this one and figured I was getting at most increase size and better resolution, but the difference is night and day somehow. Height, swivel and tilt adjustments are really nice. Colors look great. Almost no discernable IPS glow (compared to my old monitor which had bright corner spots Im blown away how little glow there is), no dead pixels, overclocking to 170hz was simple and setting the colors was easy as well. Started up a few games and was just stunned at how much better they look. Maybe its the 1440p vs 1080p but whatever it is there is no going back. 10/10 would recommend this monitor to anyone.

I already had the 27 1080p monitor from ASUS that had the same form factor, but I wanted a better resolution for eSports games (CS:GO, Overwatch, LoL, VALORANT). The screen looks sharp, the colors are bright, and everything looks great especially for a TN panel. Great response time with none of the ghost/smearing issues I had with an AOC VA gaming panel. Vertical viewing angles are abysmal, but thats to be expected from a TN panel. If you need better angles, look into getting the IPS version. However, if this is gonna be your front and center main monitor, you can probably save some money and just get the TN version (faster pixel response time too!) Do note that even though the package says 165hz, its only reachable with an overclock, which disables a lot of the other visual features like GSync/FreeSync and ELBM. Normally it reaches 144hz, which is fine for me since you couldnt pay me enough money to distinguish 144hz from 165hz correctly. However, it is a odd quirk of the packaging worth noting. Also, the panel is coated in this anti-glare solution that can make the screen look almost greasy if very bright, uniform colors are viewed. This is a mixed point. Since my monitor is right in front of a window, it helps me but it could be distracting if you play bright games in a dark environment.

Visual quality is great. My main gripe is that the audio from this monitor has to be the absolute quietest I have ever experienced. I dont recommend getting this without also getting a secondary audio device.

This is actually my first mid range monitor for gaming so I dont have much to say except a few things. This is my 1-month review. If you think you stomach the criticisms I make in this review, the go ahead and buy one. The whole review is 95% negative but I still like this monitor after I solved all of the issues I mention below. Backlight bleed mostly around the corner; very noticeable even if the room is fairly bright. But its not too terrible to upset me (I use monitor mostly in dark room environment). Love the adjustable height stand. Installing the stand is very simple. Plastic but feel very tough and durable. I extremely hate the position of the ports. In my unique situation, my desk has limited height issue. So its very tough when I need to plug and unplug the cable. Its best to put the port to be plugged on the side of the monitor, not at the near bottom. Port: - Buy an amazon basic hdmi cable. The provided hdmi cable often lost connection which caused me to go through plug and unplug nightmare. Cant seem to blindly plug in even if I determine the correct side. - I do not know if this is cable issue or the monitor itself, but I experience brief 1-3s black screen with amazon basic hdmi cable sometimes. Still better than the provided Asus hdmi cable which causes blackscreen very often and whose solution is to unplug and plug. - If you wonder whether to go for HDMI 2.0 or display port 1.2. Ill go with the hdmi unless you want 155Hz instead of 144Hz (stated in the manual). Also, if you want to turn on HDR and not bothered with stuff like ELMB and overlock, go for hdmi port. Image quality: overall, good for my eyes. A reminder that, if HDR is on, you cant adjust brightness on OSD, and some Image setting like Over Clocking, Sharpness, VividPixel, ELMB Sync. Brightness: 0 brightness is still too bright. Extremely bad if I use it for ps4 at night in dark room because theres no way to reduce brightness further. Warm color setting from OSD barely turns the color warmer. Solution: PC - I use a software to adjust brightness and warm color; Console / PS4 - I manually configure RGB to make it more red and save 2 settings: 1 for non-dark room and 1 for dark room environment. After image / blur issue: moving objects in ps4 has weird after image color, mouse, smooth scrolling. Turn the Trace Free (Image -> More -> Trace Free) to 0. That thing is like a bug but labeled as feature. Sound is a bit below average for me, non-audiophile. I use Logitech Z130 as speaker. Or my gaming laptop speaker sound a lot better. Personally, I prefer it doesnt have speaker at all to cut some cost. This is literally Asus makes customers purchase something they never use. This is a gaming monitor, not office monitor; so Asus either make great speaker or nothing at all.

Great monitor for PS5, more specifically apex. Regardless of the 60 frame cap, this monitor makes the game so much more visible. 110 fov is just like 100. Worth the money in my opinion. Everyone says it comes with dead pixels, but I must’ve gotten lucky! I highly recommend this monitor if you’re looking to upgrade.

I want to see if Asus could possibly put the headset jack in a more inconvenient place. I know you can do it, Asus engineers, because you werent even trying here, and you managed to put it in whats at least the most inconvenient place on the unit. Or at least include an extension cable to at least make the headset hookup reachable, one that doesnt automatically shut off the HDMI audio, as it does now. Otherwise, hooking up the headset involves wrestling with the screen, and hoping I dont damage it. The HDMI audio here is otherwise a huge headache. The volume is too soft, although I have to say the clarity is excellent. I seem to understand more movie dialog with the lower sound. Its still bothersome if I wish to hear the soundtrack as well. To get the sound at the volume I desire, I have to use a 3rd-party app. That shouldnt be necessary. The other problem is that its HDMI sound conflicts with my motherboards onboard sound. This is in Ubuntu and Windows. Ive had to go into EUFI BIOS shut off the onboard completely. This gets to be a problem if I want to use my headset. I refer you to the first paragraph. Because Ive had to shut down my onboard, I cant plug the headset directly into the PC. I guess I could reassign the ports, but that will have to wait until I figure out how.

I have five monitors on two computers in my office. The Asus VG27AQ1A is the only one with the color problem. Spent quite a while fiddling with the settings. No luck. Search on Google indicates that this is a common problem with this model. Just got an LG monitor same size and resolution that was $50 less, no problems whatsoever. My rating: meh. Better than punched cards. Worse than any other monitor that I have or have had over the past few decades.

Designed for intense fast-paced games. The Asus TUF Gaming VG27AQ is a 27” WQHD gaming IPS display with 1ms (MPRT) response time and blazing 165Hz refresh rate to give you super-smooth game play. The VG27AQ features G-SYNC compatibility and ELMB Sync technology to eliminate screen tearing and ghosting.
