AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 8-Core, 16-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor with Wraith Prism LED Cooler

Great product but the 3700x has more bang for rhe buck.

Fast, fairly quiet, good value. This is a great CPU. I picked it up for a slight discount around Black Friday weekend. The included HSF is reasonably quiet until you max out all the cores, and even then it really isn’t bad. The install was mostly ok but mine arrived with the CPU firmly wedged into the plastic carrier. The pins were bent due to the packaging or I bent them when struggling to get it out. Either way, it was mostly annoying but a little scary bending pins on a several hundred dollar CPU.

I came from the first gen Ryzen 7 1700 which was OC to 3.7 MHz and that CPU served me well for 2 years and decided to replace it with the 3800x. As with many others I debated between the 3700x, 3900x, and the 3800x, my final decision came down to well the 3800x is an OC 3700x and as I mentioned I decided not to OC the 3800x and with the 3900x the margin is small in FPS gains in work load yes theres a big difference but I only game.

When I ordered the product, of the Ryzen 7 3800x, it did not run on my main rig, or my other computer for reasons unknown. I know it is not my motherboard or anything akin to that as I have tested the same CPU from a friends computer and it worked perfectly in my PC. My best guess is it probably got short circuited somewhere in shipping or they were too rough and damaged it some how.

First one died using the MSI software to update the bios. Returned and received replacement board. Works great now. Installed Ryzen 3800X and high speed memory. Works well with the MSI water cooler I bought. It is extremely fast.

Built my pc from scratch! Didnt have a problem and have yet to have one! Price could be better but honestly i had to build my pc around what processors are available at the time!
