> 3 day4.5/5 Stars. Bought this on 09/04/2016. I was using a 21 TN Monitor before this. My use case is pretty general. I do some design work on the side at times, no gaming or anything. The setting I use during the day is Standard, but I turned off the blue light setting and set OSD to 0. At night, I use a custom setting -- the same as my Standard one, but the brightness is set to 10. I also use f.lux (warms up the color of your display to match your room at night) which I highly recommend if you are looking at your screen for as long as I do. PROS: - For the price, this monitor was far better than I expected. - The screen size is an upgrade from a laptop and 21 monitor. Not sure if I can go back to a very clunky bezel for long-term use now. - Colors are good. No dead pixels. No ghosting. - The non-glossy screen is exactly what I hoped for. - The power brick -- its pretty small compared to some Ive seen other screens come with. - Very lightweight. Easy to put together without any issues. CONS: - It is very wobbly and easy to tip simply by pressing the power button. That is the cost of having it be lightweight, I suppose. I can see it being knocked over very easily, so I do not recommend placing it anywhere too precarious. Definitely not near children or nosy pets unless it is weighted down solidly. - Man, it is BRIGHT. At times, this is really helpful for certain things. If you are a hermit like me that enjoys sitting in the dark, well -- youll have to adjust to that a bit. - The settings are difficult to navigate through. There is no way to tell the difference between exit/back, up/down, forward, and power on/off. Even after a year, I still accidentally hit the wrong button here or there sometimes. I put small piece of tape on the power button so I can feel the difference. OVERALL: I think this is a really good monitor to start with and I am happy with it.

Greater than one weekI cannot speak for gaming, but for a home office I think these are great! My only complaint is they did not come with the hdmi cables.

> 3 dayNeeded another monitor for my job and once again Acer has met my expectations. I have 2 other monitors, one in 4K and the other 1080p, but the difference between the two is subtle enough to where 1080p is completely fine. The main thing I like about this monitor specifically is the price.

> 3 dayI bought this monitor during the pandemic to work from home. I have now had it for a year. Its been a reasonably good monitor that still works. However, at this point, the ghost images are annoying and distracting. It does not take a long time for a ghost image to remain after viewing an item, either. Ghost images are not an issue as long as you just work with typed text on a white background. However, the moment you are working with images or videos, it becomes a real issue.

Greater than one weekLet me just start by saying this monitor in terms of price and image quality is very good. Its got nice viewing angles, a bright/vivid picture with nice colors, all three display ports/audio jack etc... its a matte finish too which is great for people who have keyboards that light up as it wont reflect onto the monitor itself like my last Acer H236HL did with the glossy mirror finish. That being said, this is my 3rd Acer monitor in a row that has shipped with exactly one dead pixel somewhere on the screen. The first one, an Acer H236HL from Best Buy, came with a dead pixel on the upper left of the screen and since I purchased that at Best Buy, I was out of the 14 day return window. I then decided to give Acer a second shot with this R240HY model since it hit all the check points I was currently looking for a monitor mentioned above as the glossy screen of the H236HL was a big hindrance in any area with light coming in. After a day of using it I did a dead pixel test against red, green, blue, white and black backgrounds and against blue backgrounds it had a dead pixel right near the center of the screen. As usual Amazon was great with the replacement without hassle. Unfortunately my second monitor came with a defect on the upper left. A black dot was now present on the upper left of my screen across all colored backgrounds. I contacted Amazon and theyve offered me a refund but no further replacement which is still great service by them as this is completely on Acer and not them. I really liked this monitor overall but I cant let a 3rd dead pixel in a row slide from the same manufacturer and will probably have to look for alternatives. Unfortunately a lot of people easily overlook a dead pixel or two, or simply never notice them but I find even one dead pixel a complete failure on the manufacturers part and I will inspect every background on a newly purchased monitor. Note: if you go through Acer RMA, they consider 10 dead pixels acceptable on 1080P screens and 16 acceptable on 2K screens, so keep that in mind when shopping with them. In conclusion, its a shame because I really wanted to keep this monitor as the image quality for the price is superb, but its pretty obvious where they cut corners to keep the prices down. I urge all of you to do a simple dead pixel test online after a few days of owning a new monitor as youre entitled to a brand new product without manufacturing defects.

> 3 dayBought two of these to set up an office at my gfs house. Extremely pleased! Easy set up with the bases, nice thin bezel, great, sharp picture. Easily compatible with my Dell monitors of the same size. I worked all week with them and I do a lot of graphic and design work, they were fantastic. Havent played any games on them, but would highly recommend these.

> 3 dayI got this to replace a second smaller screen, and it sits side by side with my older Acer screen. i am amazed at the brightness and clarity. I now need to purchase a second to match as there is such a difference.

> 3 dayI bought this Monitor Dec 13, 2015 and am still using it on my main daily computer and its working great! Its sturdy. I do play video games but not on PC so I dont know if this would be good for gaming? It displays the little arcade type games I do play, very nicely. Ive had no problems or issues with this Monitor & am pleased with it

> 3 dayWriting a novel while suffering from migraine is enough of a struggle, without flickering screens. This is amazingly better than the one it replaced. My other computer is for internet or a movie; this one is for writing and editing (the most hours). It was advertised as a gaming monitor. Refresh rates are vital for any task involving screen time... even hunt & peck typing.
