> 24 hour4.5/5 Stars. Bought this on 09/04/2016. I was using a 21 TN Monitor before this. My use case is pretty general. I do some design work on the side at times, no gaming or anything. The setting I use during the day is Standard, but I turned off the blue light setting and set OSD to 0. At night, I use a custom setting -- the same as my Standard one, but the brightness is set to 10. I also use f.lux (warms up the color of your display to match your room at night) which I highly recommend if you are looking at your screen for as long as I do. PROS: - For the price, this monitor was far better than I expected. - The screen size is an upgrade from a laptop and 21 monitor. Not sure if I can go back to a very clunky bezel for long-term use now. - Colors are good. No dead pixels. No ghosting. - The non-glossy screen is exactly what I hoped for. - The power brick -- its pretty small compared to some Ive seen other screens come with. - Very lightweight. Easy to put together without any issues. CONS: - It is very wobbly and easy to tip simply by pressing the power button. That is the cost of having it be lightweight, I suppose. I can see it being knocked over very easily, so I do not recommend placing it anywhere too precarious. Definitely not near children or nosy pets unless it is weighted down solidly. - Man, it is BRIGHT. At times, this is really helpful for certain things. If you are a hermit like me that enjoys sitting in the dark, well -- youll have to adjust to that a bit. - The settings are difficult to navigate through. There is no way to tell the difference between exit/back, up/down, forward, and power on/off. Even after a year, I still accidentally hit the wrong button here or there sometimes. I put small piece of tape on the power button so I can feel the difference. OVERALL: I think this is a really good monitor to start with and I am happy with it.

> 24 hourMy son bought me a monitor like this last year. I loved it so much that I bought one for the office I work at. It was a GREAT deal when I bought it at $99.00. Very nice quality.

> 24 hourStraight up: These are not great monitors. But for $100 each? Well, theyre pretty great monitors. Thus my headline. Cost effective is what these monitors are. The picture is a bit on the washed out end of the spectrum and maybe a tiny bit grainy. If youre a gamer, dont even consider thinking about buying these. But if, like me, youre using them in an office setting, theyre just fine. The monitors have virtually no physical adjustment. What Im especially missing is height; I think they sit at least 6 too low for proper ergonomics. I was able to solve this with the tried and true stack of printer paper method. Again, perfectly fine in an average office setting and maybe not so great in your Gamer Man Cave or whatever. Finally, consider that these are fairly low-resolution by todays standards. Again -- office work vs. gaming, watching a movie, or whatever. These things work fine. Setup was a breeze, they do what theyre supposed to do, and I dont regret my purchase one bit. If they were more expensive Id start pulling off more stars, but theyre quite cheap and well worth the tiny investment. If all you need are simple office monitors, you can certainly do worse than these. Just go order yourself a few reams of printer paper to go along with them.

> 24 hourGood, but not fantastic. First, some positives, then my nit-picking: Packaged well. The box was not treated the greatest by UPS, with some minor crushing. The packaging was sufficient enough to protect the panel very well. No dead pixels. Even if a company has a good exchange policy for this, shipping back and waiting again is a pain. Zero dead pixels. (A special note, I will edit this when/if they do appear) Ok, now my nit-picking: There is a bit of backlight bleeding, but it is only really noticeable if youre using it in a darkened room. I usually have other lights on to reduce eye strain, so it doesnt effect me a whole lot. I think I was hoping for a bit richer blacks/contrast. Images and games that are variations of color and light look markedly better than my older Dell LCD, but shadows and darkness dont look much better. There is another reviewer who actually took a photo of this, and Im wishing I wouldve taken a little more time reading reviews. I think for me, personally, if I would have seen this in action before ordering/opening, I would have hung in with my 1080p Dell LCD from 2010 for another year or two before going to 4k or 1440p. Im not saying this is a bad monitor, just that I was investing in getting a bigger difference than what I actually got. Maybe the IPS screens I have seen were of higher quality in that department, and I mistook how much of that image improvement was due to IPS technology.

> 24 hourFor an almost-24-inch monitor in the Ben Franklin price range, this thing fits the bill. The IPS gives it good off-axis viewing which is important in its use as a secondary monitor to surround my 32-inch main screen. I dont know thats youd want to use it for gaming, but for office work it fulfills my needs perfectly.

> 24 hourSo the title of my review is to catch anyones attention. Now that youre here, Ill explain why I want your attention. This monitor is very good (so far). I am typing this review on this monitor and it is amazing but there are some things that I would like to point out. Here we go. PACKAGING 5/5: the packaging was very well done. No missing cables or components or anything. The panel came very well guarded and didnt have any type of damage of any kind. INSTRUCTIONS TO SET UP 2/5: Ok, here is where I am really going to complain. It was very difficult to set this monitor up. I have uploaded some pictures to give you an idea. Here is the thing, the manual says the following The monitor base is attached onto the monitor before shipment and it is undetachable. Well, one of the pictures that I have uploaded shows the monitor (covered in a white protector); the ring base; and another piece that connects both that I will call the bridge separately from each other. English is not my first language so I may be mistaken but, monitor base attached to monitor to me means exactly that and not that the parts come separately. I have NO problem with setting it up, thats not my complaint. My complaint is that it says that it comes attached and then doesnt tell you how to attach the bridge part to the monitor Now, I will break it up into a few steps. Step 1. You take the ring part and the bridge part and you join them together. Plug and play. Once you do that, at the base of the ring piece, there is a white screw that you have to tighten using a coin. So far, so good. This part is clearly explained in the manual, no problem. Step 2. You take the bridge + ring and insert it into the bottom of the monitor and you press it hard. I mean VERY HARD until you hear a sort of POP and it locks in place. This sounds simple, right? It actually is if you have instructions, which Acer doesnt give you. The instructions manual does not explain this. I kept pushing the bridge + ring into the monitor and couldnt understand why it wasnt working. I looked for a locking mechanism of some sort and couldnt see it. I was trying to be gentle because I didnt want to smudge the monitor but I also had to hold it hard to put the bridge + ring in place. I unscrewed the bridge from the ring and tried to connect that to the monitor. It would just fall off and I didnt know how to make it stay. Out of pure luck and 20 minutes of trying, I guess I must have used too much force and it finally locked in. I was scared for a second because I thought I broke it but then I saw it didnt fall of anymore and I was relieved. After that, it was pretty straightforward. Now, some of you may say that I should have known to use a lot of force to lock it together but, sorry, I didnt know and I wonder if anyone else has experienced the same thing. PERFORMANCE 5/5. Coming from a 1366x768 resolution monitor, all I can say is that I am BLOWN AWAY!. Everything looks so beautiful and crisp and sharp. It is amazing. I am using a DVI-D (Dual link) from Amazon Basics connected to a R9 380 Nitro and it works perfectly. I play a lot of Rocket League and I cant believe how good the game looks now, it is surreal. Overall, the monitor looks and performs very well. For this reason, I think a 4 out of 5 stars is adequate. I will upload more pictures if anyone is interested in seeing them. Just ask.

> 24 hourThe on/off button (and others) are on the bottom edge of the monitor. I find I must hold on to the monitor with one hand in order for the other to use the buttons. Inconvenient.

> 24 hourBought this as a secondary monitor for my laptop at my home office. This monitor for the price is amazing. I’m going to buy a second one for a triple monitor set up at some point. My wife tried to steal for her laptop on her desk for a second monitor for her podcasts instead of using my old 2009 LG 22 widescreen. I love having a large 2nd monitor when working on spreadsheets and other documents. I have watched some videos on it and played some computer games using it. A little latency and ghosting, but light years ahead of old monitor.

> 24 hourI figured I would wait awhile before making this review. Its for the 23.8 inch R240HY bidx I feel I should mention the size because Amazon has this completely stupid policy now of merging reviews for what they think are similar products, so you never know if youre reading the review for the product you actually are researching, or the larger or smaller model with may or may not be similar in reality. In my opinion this monitor has good color quality, blacks are black enough, it can be tuned to be not too bright/blue (although most people seem to love screens as bright and blue as technically feasible). Its great for gaming, the screen looks larger than it is because the bezel is small. Its very thin. No dead pixels (my last 1080p Acer had one stuck red pixel, this was ages ago though). I have hopes it will last longer than my last one because of the LED backlighting. Main complaint is ghosting or trailing when scrolling on websites with dark font and colors that arent white. Theres a site I visit more often than others, and when scrolling the text ghosts pretty bad, its black text on a kind of blue/grey background and the ghosting is basically negative, as in it ghosts light almost white under the black text when scrolling. Hard to explain I suppose but even a literally ancient HP LCD monitor I have from Windows Vista era does not do this. Really griping I suppose and if you want consider this a five star review. I just dont give five stars unless I have no complaints. Acer is always a great value brand if youre willing to consider it might not last forever. Great specs and features for the price as always VESA mount would also be nice, if just so that I could get a second of exact same model for portrait use as a second monitor
