Got an adult beardy from a neighbor and they had a single light in a dual light setup. I like to keep my house rather cool (around 68f year round) so I knew I would need extra heat without the light especially during the night. I got this and one was enough. During the day time in Texas (our temps are stupid in the winter before January) this bulb plus a 100W incandescent keeps his area between 93 and 96f while ambient is 70f with no fans running. At night its between 75f and 80f depending on if I need the AC on (again because its Texas) when I have the thermostat at 68f. Between this and his heat rock he seems rather happy.

Initially I would have given these a 5 star review. However, each time they were used they gave off a little less heat.

Trap the heat from the elements to get good results. I built small structures to suspend the elements over dog kennels. The structures also keep the kennel covers away from the elements. Works well to bring the kennel temps to about 20F above ambient.

Works well so far...

We had been looking to replace our red-light heat bulbs in our snakes tank for quite awhile. But, the price of ceramic bulbs at the pet store were outrageous. We are very grateful that we have found these bulbs. They do a great job of keeping his tank at the perfect temperature, and dont put out any light, so our little guy is much less stressed.

I know this is labeled for reptiles, but it has been WONDERFUL for our hedgehog! Especially since it doesn’t actually “shine” so I can keep it on all day since we like to keep it so cold in our home!
