> 3 dayIm lucky one of my cats tipped over the turtle lamp otherwise I wouldnt have noticed that the light had broken and had become discolored. I had noticed the smell of burning plastic at one point and couldnt figure out where it was coming from. Now I know. Not sure why this happened but it makes me apprehensive to get another one.

> 3 dayThis bulb is reasonable for a very small enclosure (5-15 gallon), where the bulb can be placed within 5-8 inches of the reptile allowing for direct exposure without any material (lid mesh, glass, etc) in an area where the reptile might frequently bask. Mine is connected to a flexible lamp arm that extends down into the enclosure, allowing for maximum UVB. Once the enclosure is upgraded to something larger as the reptile grows in size, its strongly recommended to go to a larger tube type light and fixture that will allow for a strong and even distribution of UVB light in the enclosure. However, this will suffice in the early stages as long as its properly distanced and used.

Greater than one weekI ordered two of these bulbs, only one of them worked. The other one doesnt. I plan on returned the defective one, and hope it will be replaced. If that happens then Ill probably change my rating on this.

> 3 dayMy Beardie had trouble seeing live insects I was offering her while I had this on as her UVB source. The flourescent is good for maybe smaller pets, but a Beardie needs more output than this can provide at a SAFE distance. My Bearded Dragon needed to get so close to this, that it was giving her snow blindness as some call it. I removed it once I noticed this, bought the larger ZooMed T5 HO UVB tube light and that does a much better job.
