> 24 hourExactly 30 days and 1 week after purchasing, the hood began to blow out the day light bulbs that I placed in it for us. I used a 60w bulb as instructed. After 3 bulb replacements, and checking with the local pet store regarding the product, the hood is defective. I will not be able to replace this since it has been over 30 days since I purchased it. I will unfortunately have to replace the hood since the reptile I have must have this for its well being.

> 24 hourWorking great and fits the top of my small 12inch width) Exo Terra terrarium perfectly. I also have Exo Terras hood. However, I have the hood that will not take anything higher than 25W bulb. The 25W bulb was not enough heat for hermit crabs. So I put the naturalistic hood on the back (as the power switch is located on its back) for the primary heat source, and the Exo Terra on the front (as this switch is located on the side) to be able to adjust the heat on colder days/ nights.

> 24 hourI used the lamp literally only once before it wouldn’t power absolutely anything else. I even used the recommended UVB light for this lamp only to waste money finding out it wasn’t the bulb. I wouldn’t recommend at all.

> 24 hourlooks good, the reflective sleeve throws off more heat than the standard aluminium heat lamp. very good value also.

> 24 hourThis hood lamp works great for compact UVB lights, the metal reflector reflects the light great, and keeps the light bright!

> 24 hourI dont like any CFL fixtures for reptiles because they are so problematic. I work in rescue and most issues I find with the chameleons that I rescue stem from poor lighting equipment. I purchased this to test a CFL light with a Solarmeter and only use it for my lab where I may keep an animal there for a short period (as in minutes or hours) while its being medicated or treated in some way. Not ideal for long term for chameleons. I gave it 3 stars for aesthetics and design. It might be better suited for frogs or geckos.
