> 3 dayThis hood lamp works great for compact UVB lights, the metal reflector reflects the light great, and keeps the light bright!

> 3 dayI really want to give this a better rating but there are key factors that just can’t be overlooked. This fixture is great for any bulb that doesn’t emit heat. You see where I’m going with this? They recommend bulbs that will fit in this fixture that are basking bulbs, night light bulbs, red heat bulbs etc. THIS FIXTURE MELTS with HEAT. Not a great combination. The only thing I use these for are plant growth bulbs. The Exo-Terra Reptile UVB 100, 13W Bulbs and similar products work well and do not melt the unit or the top of the cage. The pluses of this fixture are that it has a dual switch in the back so you can choose to have one side on or off or both on or off. The cord is decently long and it sits sturdily on top of the tank. Do not buy this if you are intending on using it for anything other that grow lights or viewing lighting. For those purposes only, there are much lower profile options out there but now I am stuck with these. I’ve learned my lesson.

> 3 dayReviewers recommended it over the exoterra, wish I wouldnt have listened as it slides around on top. the recommended bulb is expensive and quite dim.
