Used this bit to replace a 60 degree v-bit that kept breaking off the tip. It ran flawlessly through 12-4x8 sheets of fir plywood at 1/16 deep. Afterwords examined the tip and cutting edge with a jewelers loupe and found it was almost as new. Highly recommend this for engraving and projects were a v-groove bit will break.

This cutter performs flawlessly doing some V-carving in MDF and oak. I also used it on some acrylic, but realized that the acrylic was not the right kind of acrylic to use for machining, so I imagine the bit will perform good with cast acrylic instead of the extruded which I was using.

One of my favorite inexpensive go-to bits. All the white side bits Ive bought hold up really way. The cuts are always smooth and perfect. Give one a try you wont be disappointed

This is my favorite vbit. The third flute really changes the quality of cut in mdf. Small details don’t sheer off and the bit is very quiet compared to the other V bits I tried. The photo with “your orders” and the review section is wrong. You get the more compact bit seen in the listing photos.

Whiteside bits are excellent and this one was no different. Let me explain how I used it. I was making a rather complex cutting board for my music teacher brothers birthday. The plan called for a layer of ebony veneer to be glued between each of the keys to simulate a thin shadow. I ordered and returned several ebony veneer orders because they just were not uniformly black. So I departed from the plan and decided to vein the surface of the black walnut and hard maple keys and then apply ebony stain into the veins with an old ink pen. The 60 degree angle on the bit allowed me to lay the stain about 1/32nd of an inch deep giving me crisp black lines just below the surface. I then covered the lines with epoxy resin and sanded the excess epoxy off of the surface. It worked perfectly. BTW, this board was made for show not cutting foodstuffs.

Great American made quality. No China crap here. Ive been using bits from Whiteside for years and they are definitely quality made and work perfectly. They may cost a little more than the China junk , but they are totally worth it.

Dont use the photo for this item to decide if this is the right bit... the photo is incorrect! I also found that photos on the manufacturers website were also misleading, but the descriptions are correct. The Whiteside #1541 is a solid carbide 60° V-groove bit that is 1/4 in diameter, has a 1/4 shank, and a 3-flute cutting point. I purchased this bit to use in router-carving wood signs, and it performs exceptionally well in this role. The tool is very sharp and has maintained its edge well through use. Great value for the money!

These bits are awesome, they stay sharp for sooo long running them on my CNC and they dont cost much at all, I used one for 6 months and it was still cutting great, bought another just because it seemed time to replace it.. definitely didnt need to though. Seems everyone is buying the Amana bit with replacement carbide inserts now, they will originally run you a lot of money and replacement inserts cost as much as this bit, I highly recommend this bit for v carving.
