> 3 dayThis is probably my sixth scanner, and covers all of the analog and digital channels that I was interested in receiving. After several months of using this scanner, it would still be the first choice for purchase. It receives all of our local un-encrypted police and fire channels. Even though I had experience with older generation Uniden scanners, there are a lot of differences that required some education. By far the best source of information was the many YouTube videos available on programming this scanner. A major improvement with these latter scanners is the inclusion of the complete RadioReference US and Canada database. The database is updated weekly with all of the new information. The Uniden Sentinel software works very well, and the scanner accepts MicroSD cards up to 32GB which can be programmed in the scanner using the included USB cable or by inserting the card into a computer. Very easy to back up the programming information. You can have one or more backup MicroSD cards. This scanner also covers P25 Phase II channels which are being used by many police and fire departments. This scanner is a big improvement from my old BCD996T. Much easier to program once I got through most of the learning curve.

> 3 dayGoes offline at least twice a day. Unplugging and reinserting the dongle usually fixes it but occasionally the scanner has to be rebooted.

Greater than one weekAs I expected, this was complicated scanner to set-up, but I have another one, the BC346XT which is also very complicated. You cant have a very serious and capable scanner and push one button to make it all work wonderfully. After hours of learning a new language and learning to run the software that programs the scanner, then programming the scanner, the thing works wonderfully well and is very versatile. This is NOT for the faint of heart but for serious scanner enthusiasts that dont mind learning a lot about programming, software, and the language of the receiver. However, once programmed it does some amazing things like on a certain channel you ask it to -- it will pause on it, increase the volume while there is voice, and flash any number of light colors that surround the control knob to alert you that a certain radio channel is on. It follows the new and old digital trunking system that Nashville, TN uses and handles all the agencies very well. Overall it is an excellent product. I knew it would be complicated, so should you. Go into the purchase with that in mind and you will be amazed. Do not try and program it without a computer either, not even sure it is possible.

> 3 daySound quality is not great for conventional channels, but that’s just minor. This scanner is very complex at first, but after a day or two it’s really simple. I suggest using the Sentinel software to create a favorites list because the scan speed on a digital system is slower than conventional. I don’t suggest using the “zip” feature. Use the software and create a favorites list, and monitor that list.

> 3 dayUnidens flagship scanner that seems to be able to do most anything you would want from a scanner. It will take some time to learn how to even begin to use it and is an ongoing learning process. The included manual is difficult to follow but Unidens support page and YouTube make up for it. I suggest this be for the serious scanner fan and not for beginners or occasional listening. There are less expensive units that will do just fine for that. One note, I do recommend an alternate scanner antenna vs. the included telescoping one for indoor. I purchased the Accessories Unlimited AUSCAN3 16 Inch Magnet Mount Scanner Antenna and it made all the difference in the world. I simply stuck it to the top of the scanner and immediately cured the static, popping and garbled transmissions that I was receiving with the included indoor antenna!

> 3 dayI purchased this bcd536hp scanner due to the wifi adapter. I use proscan software with the web server and now can listen to my stream anywhere in the world. You must have proscan turned on with web server. so computer has to be on and scanner has to be on all the time. I make sure I have light on scanner turned off. I dont need that to die on me!. I use it mostly for simulcast in Central NY. I have to say it does pretty good on simulcast. I just couldnt afford the Uniden sds200. ProScan is well worth it. try it out for free for 30 days and if you like it then you pay a one time fee of 50.00

Greater than one weekI started off with Crystal scanners. I left off years ago at triple trunking. This scanner is awesome. Yes there is some learning curves, however Im up and running and less than one minute. Im able to get my surrounding channels I need. Set the range turn up the squelch, Im good. I will continue to update as I go along, but so far all good. Well not the fact that I got to upgrade and pay for it.,,,DMR, not that important to me. However, to others it is a big deal. The fact that it is Wi-Fi and there is an app that does work is awesome. It works. I love it. I still got to figure out how to get connection from the outside. I was going to forward the ports, but could not type in the colon at the beginning of the app you know, the IP address colon the number Port you assigned it to. Ill figure it out. Dont want to stick it out there in a DMZ.
