> 3 dayAmazing scanner. The most advanced scanner with the most options I have ever had. Currently I have 5 scanners and 4 of them are Uniden. The most important thing to determine before you buy this scanner is if the police, sheriff and fire departments in your community transmit an encrypted signal. This scanner or any scanner will not work for you if the signal is encrypted. In Georgia, Clayton, Henry, Fayette and Spalding Counties encrypt their signals. I live in Clayton county and the other counties I listed surround me. I am returning it. It is a heart breaker for me and my wife. We have been listening to police scanners for 20 years and now nothing will work. I guess it is more important for the police department, sheriffs department and fire departments to keep everything from the public than it is for the public to know what is happening in their community. This is a sad day for government transparency. I guess the local politicians think it is better if you do not know what is happening in your community.

> 3 dayThis was supposed to be the greatest ever. Ive had to have two people help me with this. Apparently, all we can do is select my county and I only can get a 30 mile radius reception. It downloads the common frequencies and so far we have not figured out if we can add other ones. It doesnt look like it. I was hoping to have the record function up and working. I first took it to a technician, and he got it sort of configured and set it to record. When it was unplugged and brought to my home everything was lost, I had to get someone else come and configure it again. And we didnt get the record feature operational. Im afraid to do anything to it for fear of losing where it is set to listen to the things I can. I should have bought a much less expensive unit that I could program myself.

31-10-2024Goes offline at least twice a day. Unplugging and reinserting the dongle usually fixes it but occasionally the scanner has to be rebooted.

> 3 dayAs I expected, this was complicated scanner to set-up, but I have another one, the BC346XT which is also very complicated. You cant have a very serious and capable scanner and push one button to make it all work wonderfully. After hours of learning a new language and learning to run the software that programs the scanner, then programming the scanner, the thing works wonderfully well and is very versatile. This is NOT for the faint of heart but for serious scanner enthusiasts that dont mind learning a lot about programming, software, and the language of the receiver. However, once programmed it does some amazing things like on a certain channel you ask it to -- it will pause on it, increase the volume while there is voice, and flash any number of light colors that surround the control knob to alert you that a certain radio channel is on. It follows the new and old digital trunking system that Nashville, TN uses and handles all the agencies very well. Overall it is an excellent product. I knew it would be complicated, so should you. Go into the purchase with that in mind and you will be amazed. Do not try and program it without a computer either, not even sure it is possible.

> 3 dayThis unit is so easy to set up and use. No programing on line or from anywhere else. Just use your zip code. It started loading and broadcasting in minutes from taking it out of the box. We live in the county but in a busy area, it is good to know where the accident is, fire is, which community or communities are responding. I never knew how much the police, troopers and firemen respond on a daily basis. This has been an eye opening experience. Thank you Uniden and our men/women in blue!

> 3 dayThe scanner is amazing! I will say you need to be a bit tech savvy because the manual has a lot to be desired, but with Google and YouTube, programming for the home was an absolute breeze. Once you connect it to your home WiFi you can use the Siren app to listen to it anywhere in your home on you phone or tablet. Worth the money and the time to set it up.

> 3 dayWhat a scanner! I have had scanners from the day they were presented. This BCD536HD has to be the one that is so impressive. I like the way it hooks up to my PC and the way I can program frequency and favorite channels. Before I purchased this rig I was told that trunk tracking was not in my area. Well the joke is on the one that gave me this info. I hear many trunk frequencys and they use P25. The only thing I dont like is the speaker is underneath. I will purchase an external speaker for a clearer sound. I did purchase the program ARC536PRO and it is a great program for virtual control on PC. I did learn a lot from other users on http://www.radioreference.com/ and video on YouTube.com. If you are thinking of getting this scanner, dont hesitate, it is a great receiver.

> 3 dayThis is the coolest scanner I have ever seen. The negative reviews are definitely about how complicated it is to operate. Well, it is as complicated as you want to make it. I was listening to it within 2 minutes of plugging it in and entering my zip code. Have I done more to it since then? You bet. I added some channels from my local Jail. I made the different departments in my area show up with different colors. I have caught some new frequencies with it also and blocked out some frequencies that I didnt want. IF it is too hard for you to read the manual and learn about the features then you wont get that far. Buy something cheaper and live and let live. This is the coolest scanner I have ever seen. Worth the $ in my opinion.

> 3 dayUnidens flagship scanner that seems to be able to do most anything you would want from a scanner. It will take some time to learn how to even begin to use it and is an ongoing learning process. The included manual is difficult to follow but Unidens support page and YouTube make up for it. I suggest this be for the serious scanner fan and not for beginners or occasional listening. There are less expensive units that will do just fine for that. One note, I do recommend an alternate scanner antenna vs. the included telescoping one for indoor. I purchased the Accessories Unlimited AUSCAN3 16 Inch Magnet Mount Scanner Antenna and it made all the difference in the world. I simply stuck it to the top of the scanner and immediately cured the static, popping and garbled transmissions that I was receiving with the included indoor antenna!
