> 3 dayAs with most things you get what you paid for. There are scanners out there that are easier to use and program, but that also cost a conciderable more money. This product does sacerfice some ease of use features that are present on higher priced models like number keys for programming channels, but it doesnt skimp on sound quailty or build. For a small electronic device this is built like they did back in the day housed in a nice solid case with tight buttons and nice sturdy dials there should be no fear in mountiing this in the hardest working trucks out there. Scan is relitivly fast for a scanner at this price point. Make no mistake this is a little to no frills device but youre also not paying a premium for those features. In short this leaves out some items that are convenience items but nothing that I couldnt live without. If you want a nice scanner for the right price that delivers where it counts, you cant loose with this one. As a side note the item came in sooner then I expected and Im 100% happy with the vendor and Amazon delivery

Greater than one weekI use this scanner in my Jeep. It was easy enough to mount next to the CB. Antennas for fiberglass shells are hard to come by, so I got creative with a magnet mount, and a little hardware. Seems to receive signals satisfactory.

> 3 dayBought one for my daughter and one for my son and one for my own present. A great scanner at a reasonable price. Easy to use, but real professional ability to program by reading the detailed manual. We live in Lake County, CA where we need to have them to keep track of the wildfires in our area, as well as weather forecasts, police and sheriff, and ambulance calls.

> 3 dayDo a search online for what frequencies your town uses for fire and police. radio reference dot com is the one I used. Go down the list and find your town, to the right of your town , in the mode section if it says P25= this scanner will NOT work. means its Digital/private. This is a analog machine. If however it says FM under mode area for your town, you WILL get that station just fine, meaning its analog. You can buy scanners that pick up the P25 digital mode but they are alot more money. Hope this helps new customers in deciding as my town has the police in p25 mode and i cannot listen with this machine, but the fire is in fm so i can listen. ..........im still learning, but as for trying to GET TO A SPECIFIC STATION=... hit the band button and toggle it to the basic area you want say 100 to 200 , now hit scan, soon as your near the number you looking for hit the HOLD BUTTON, and use the up or down arrows to get to it. thats all, when someone talks on that , it will come on automatically. ........ as for saving a favorite to your bank... same deal as above, go to Bank, select the area you want example 100-200, search, soon as near number hit HOLD, use up down to get to number you want...Now hit the PROG button, then hit the PRIVATE BUTTON..there you can put it in the bank you want(it blinks to select a bank think you ca nstore 100 on here or something) now Hit PROGRAM again , and it saves it ..so next time you can just hit private and your saved banks of liked frequencies are over there, .. mine just wont work right with my saved ones but im not sure if it will listen to all my saved ones when one is activated or what yet as still learning this machine(grumbles lol) also that cc weird thing on bottom left I read will go to any live talk or something, non stop?, in reviews above, but i havent tried it out yet. Well thats all for now, if I figure anything more , ill update this post if need.

> 3 dayBought this on the advice of a neighbor. Not disappointed but it takes sometime to figure out how to get the best programming out of it, but I do like that it’s portable as well. Thanks!

> 3 dayThis is a good analog scanner if you know radio. If you do not know radio go with another unit. This will not get most government traffic(POLICE FIRE) today as they have gone to digital trunking which this radio does not do. The most traffic you will get on an analog scanner now is aircraft, HAM radio and marine. This scanner works fine for me.

> 3 dayBeautiful scanner. Moving from a Grecom psr700, the control is not so intuitive as I used to though. With less buttons on the grecom, I found my old scanner simpler to use. The close call functionality is still a misstory to me even after 3 or 4 YouTube videos. The build quality is first class. A good buy.

> 3 dayGood little radio, nice features easy to set up. Sound quality could be a little better but good radio over all.

Greater than one weekBought this for myself then decided to give it to my son for Christmas. WE have such a horrible fire season here in Northern Calif, every home needs a scanner to know what is going on around them.

> 3 dayI wanted a scanner for a long time. I use to pull up radio reference and listen to the stream of my local police traffic but the quality was bad and unreliable. This scanner appealed to be because I wanted one like this style, not the portable radio looking ones, as well as the feature of being able to use it in the home and car. It took me a little while to figure out how to use it even with the instructions but after 10-20 minutes I had my local sheriffs dept. tuned in. I was so happy, the quality was 100x better than the internet stream, it sounded like they were right next to me compared to what the stream sounded like. I was impressed by the amount of accessories that were included with the scanner. Most companies would require you to purchase all the stuff that was included with this. There was a car antenna, a house antenna, AC adapter, DC adapter, and a hard wire kit for the car. I purchased a different antenna for the top of the car as well as a speaker. The only wish I have is that it went a little louder, when your in the car and driving at 60-75 MPH its hard to hear with the road noise. If you have it you can plus your AUX in for your car and have it come across your speakers but itll only come out of one side. I dont know anything about scanners but Im 100% happy with my purchase. Its something Ive wanted for a long time and it does exactly what I wanted. Dont be discouraged if you have trouble figuring it out at first. The instructions dont cover everything so you sort of have to teach yourself some things.
