I loved this movie. I never buy movies because I usually can’t find one that’s worth watching twice. I wish they would make a sequel starting with the end and following the young lady on her journey. Very interesting movie and I like that there wasn’t fu’s and sex, that helped keep the main thing the main thing

Im not big on reviewing movie quality as it is so subjective and with 350 other reviews there isnt much to add. However This film quickly founds its place at the top of my collection. The pacing and storytelling is very similar to Shyamalan films. I was very tempted to be bored in the beginning of the film but quickly found the pacing and scenes of alleged insignificance were actually doing quite well at building a very dramatic plotline. It doesnt hurt that the cast is stellar and they all work together very well. The Blu-Ray quality is superb. I have watched on a 24, 47, and 40 inch LCD and every pixel is simply a masterpiece. This movie wont be for everyone. Its a slow moving story that is finally fulfilled only in the very end, but once you arrive there it is well worth the journey. The violence and some content is a little rough for younger viewers as the story is about a corrupt and devastated society that is literally fighting in a survival of the fittest scenario. Throw in a few people that will do anything to make a play for power and you get some disturbing images that may turn a few stomachs. The blu-ray features are decent and the price was extremely favorable when I bought this movie. If you like a good story, even this post apocalyptic setting can provide a plot that most people will be pleasantly surprised by.

The Book of Eli is an example of every effective christian because Eli had read and stored THE WORD in his very being. He believed in what GOD had sent him to do and he accomplished it. He exemplified that nothing could take him out until GOD had fulfilled His purpose in him. In short this movie is an example of staying focus on THE WORD OF GOD and whatever we know beyond a shadow of a doubt what THE LORD JESUS-GOD ALMIGHTY has ordained or spoken to us to do.

I am a big fan of Denzel Whasinton movies, he brings the right intensity to the character he plays. You cant help but cheer for Eli and those he inspires. Another great movie.

Im still ambivelent about this film, The Book of Eli. Visually, the directors succeed in painting a totally stark, blasted, and scorched-earth wasteland. Life has been reduced to a constant struggle for survival - food, water, shelter, and protection. As the film progresses, you discover bits and pieces of what happened to produce a world like what you are viewing - obviously some kind of nuclear war - but, also you get hints about book burnings - particularly religious writings - which were blamed, by some, as the cause for the war and the resulting devestation. Enter Eli, who is guarding some kind of book, who believes he has been told by a voice to take the book west. Also, we meet Carnegie, a violent, ambitious leader of a large gang that has control of at least one city. Carnegie is searching for a particular book that he believes will give him control over the masses of people. We even get a hint that prior to the war, Carnegie was some kind of successful religious preacher. We soon discover that the book Eli is guarding is the very one that Carnegie desparately desires. So, we have two people who both cherish the Book, but for vastly different reasons. Eli sincerely believes the Books message - he attempts to live by it - he wants to spread the books message to as many people as possible because he believes it contains the Truth and that only by following its teachings will people find true meaning for life and real peace with ones self, Man and God. Carnegie wants the book to use for his own purposes - to sway and use people in order to achieve power and control. The Book to him is only a means to get what he wants - he doesnt really believe its message - he isnt going to live by its message - he just values it for its influence over people. Im still mulling over the messages of the film, but it does make you think and the story pulls you in. The films major theme, I believe, is that although there are wolves in sheeps clothing mascarading as servants of God - dont reject the Truth because of the fakes. Be discerning about who or what you put your faith in. Truth can be used for good or for evil. Overall, I think this movie is definitely worth watching - good acting, good pacing, good plot and character development - interesting twist toward the end. Highly recommend.

I went to see this film expecting Mad Max...but got a thinking mans version of every other post-apoc film Id ever seen. A *lot* of thought went into this film in terms of worldbuilding and other aspects in an effort to make it believable, and worth immersing myself in it. Se it; you wont regret it. And youl find yourself rewinding it saying...Oh YEAH! I missed that, but that...I shoulda seen that coming! :) Great film. Great film.

A good post-apocalyptic movie with plenty of action. The plot was fairly strong, as its something I often hear people say. One arguing that it is used as a form of control and the other argument being that it is a way of a peaceful and fulfilling life. I do recommend this movie to others.
