The Book of Eli

> 24 hourI do not like long reviews. If I wanted to read a book, I would go buy a book! With that said, The book of Eli was a good movie, nothing more. I always enjoy watching Denzel and dont believe he has done enough work over the years. He was believable (as was Gary Oldman who I was first introduced to from watching The Professional as a drug crazed cop) in this movie, but I am afraid poor Mila Kunis has sadly been type cast (as has Ashton Kutcher) by the many years of being the stuck up, money grubbing, ditz on the long running That 70s show on TV and was even less believable in Max Payne. Dont get me wrong, I like Mila, but her style does not change and it seems as though she cannot get into the part. Kudos to her for bagging some nice acting parts though, even if, (in my opinion) she pulled both the stated movies down.

> 24 hourI love how big bible-thumper Washington must think this is a huge faith-affirming movie, when a majority of the plot revolves around showing how religion and the bible are often used for power, greed, fear, and control. 5 points for getting Gary Oldman to play the power-hungry zealot who sees the bible for what it is. Oh yeah, plot is pretty enthralling, and so is the acting. Movie has a nice pace with somewhat of a surprise ending.

> 24 hourReally loved the movie. Denzel Washington was great while Mila Kunis did a pretty good job although I felt some of her moments to be a bit lack luster. The movie itself was excellent, but without revealing any spoilers Id say there are two sides to take on the why as to the finish of the movie. Id say they leave it a bit open, but not so much to make it confusing. Anyway if youre considering this movie, give it it a shot. You wont regret it.

> 24 hourI loved this movie. I never buy movies because I usually can’t find one that’s worth watching twice. I wish they would make a sequel starting with the end and following the young lady on her journey. Very interesting movie and I like that there wasn’t fu’s and sex, that helped keep the main thing the main thing

> 24 hour*NO SPOILERS* The Book of Eli is an interesting tale of a post-apocalyptic world in which our hero (Denzel, of course) has to survive in a brutal environment while on his own personal quest. Of course, this quest is interrupted by our villan (Oldman) and Denzel is forced to use his formidable talents to defend himself and others along the way. What I think I enjoyed most about this film was the sense of realism of the post-apocalyptic, Dust Bowl world. With Denzel and Oldman, you know youre gonna get some solid acting, and they dont disappoint. The fight sequences were, paired with well-written dialogue, pretty damn fun and appropriately violent - and by appropriate, I mean there is a lot of personal, close quarters fighting, not just spray and pray gun battles, given that ammo (and functioning firearms) are in realistically short supply. With films that have been out for a few years, its challenging to come up with anything that hasnt already been said. So, I hope this review helps you in making your decision whether or not to rent, via the little bits of personal observations I have here!

> 24 hourThis is such a great movie! Absolutely badass and beautiful at the same time. Denzel delivers a captivating performance as usual, and the action sequences are gripping. And the story... what a story. Im not religious, but this moved me! Been one of my favorite recent American films for years now. Love it!
