I can now rapidly transfer files from my laptop to my desktop for astrophotography processing

I bought this to move a bunch of my files off of and old computer and transfer them to a new computer. It was interesting to see how slowly they transferred from the old machine to the drive and how quickly they were moved to the new machine with USB 3.2 connections. If you are looking for some solid portable storage this is a good choice at a reasonable price.

The T7 1TB SSD wouldnt mount on my older MacBook Pro. No show in Disk Utilities, not at all. These older MBPs only supply 500 mA to non-Apple accessories whereas the T7 specs call for connection to a 1500 mA capable USB 3.2 source. I solved this and got the T7 to work as expected by using an external USB hub with a power connector. Then the T7 mounted and transferred data at high speed (500 MBps rated on the USB 3 SuperSpeed connection). And once recognized. no hub was needed for subsequent connection, the T7 mounts normally.

The drive works as advertised--no issues there. But If youre buying this expecting to get the Adobe CC promotional offer, dont bother. Im giving this 1 star because of Samsungs total lack of support in redeeming the promotional credit for 2 months of Adobe Creative Cloud. Per the instructions on Samsungs website I registered the device but never received an email with directions on how to redeem the offer. I spent 45 minutes on 2 chat sessions and 3 (disconnected) phone calls to 4 different support groups and still no resolution. Not cool.

I use this to backup my MacBook Pro M1. Unbelievably fast at doing a chore that used to take a long time with a conventional external hard disk.

Exactly what we needed. Light weight!

I bought two at two separate times for use as backup drives. The first one has failed to an unrepairable state after less than two years of use. NOT recommended.

I keep my files in 3 places: cloud, hdd and ssd drives. Redundancy gives me peace of mind. I dont trust any device after losing important files, or paying for recovery, due to malfunctions, crashes or accidents. I dont trust the cloud either, the service can be interrupted by power outages and natural disasters.
