Having used Samsung SSDs for close to 4 years on my main machine, upgraded laptop and recommending many friends these as boot drives, its no doubt this was an impulse purchase decision that I will not regret to replace my 860 EVO 250GB, whose new role still has yet to be assigned to.

My only problem was transferring the system to the new disk. MS backup is not helpful. I used a third party app successfully. Use CrystalDiskInfo to track expected lifetime. Get a disk at least twice your actual requirements so it can spread your data and avoid pounding the same cells.

Personally I work with alot of parts but this one is pre good I love Samsung ssds but if they would make them less then 80 they would be worth it 120 is questionable

Goes to show you even the best have bad days. Three different computers could not see this device at ALL when plugged into usb to make a clone. Different data cables, didnt matter.

I purchased this EVO 860 500 GB SSD as replacement for the 5400 RPM HDD in my ASUS laptop. Insalled same day as reciept - entire process took less than an hour with most of the time spent cloning my old drive via USB. With new SSD, my laptop boots up in seconds and everything runs faster and snappier. Installed alarger one in a desktop several months ago and made a huge difference in gaminig load times. Other than a new GPU, having an SSD boot drive is the best uprade you can get for any computer.
