I bought this to replace an old Cobra. I had this tuned when I bought it and it arrived ready to go. It is being used as a base station with a simple inverted V dipole antenna. Works great! The receiver is pretty good for this type of radio. Not as good as the one on my Yaesu 991A but then what is. The transmit is good, it puts out a solid 30-35 watts PEP and the audio sounds clean and well balanced. I get decent communications with mobiles about to about ten miles on AM and a bit further on SSB. I use it to monitor 38LSB so I know when skip is coming in.

Once again President has produced a great 10 and 12 meter transceiver with improvements in mic audio and receive audio to name a few.The pc is all smt and is a sight to behold. For those of you that are interested in freq. expansion, there is a little more procedure involved, ie. installing a 1/2 watt 1K Ohm resistor on the vacant spot on the pc board, and then it can be field programmed or by using the data port to pc and software. So with this little bit of info might add icing on the cake for those of you who prefer this kind of thing. Anyway you slice it,this rig is a five star choice in my book and it has a lower price tag as well. Get one for yourself and see. You want be disappointed.Sincerely,Edgar.

The features are great for the price. Good mounting set and power cable. Yet, Im disappointed in the memory and programming options. Even after finding a 3rd party cable, the free software from President doesnt do much. If you want it to act like a CB, youll be thrilled. If you want to scan the ham bands and create channel groups for different modes, not so much. The stock channel groups dont match usable ham bands or segments within the bands. Regarding channel frequencies, I have yet to find a way to change anything but the 6 memories and emergency channels. So, all the default channels end in 5kHz increments; and cant be changed, apparently. The TX and RX do well. The clarifier is really useful and the noise filtering options are very useful as band conditions change. The metering is convenient for battery voltage and swr. The mic key misses occasionally and I have to re-key. It is very easy to modify for CB use, and the channels line up nicely, so Ive heard. If someone wants more than legal power and to free-band, it could be done: allegedly.

i like the price and the power output. Not sure how the scanning is going to work out by going in 5 KHz steps. We will see

I was able to make contacts on 10m, but the Bands button is very strange, and doesnt reflect actual radio bands. CW on mine was completely unusable, as no matter what I tried, the first character sent would be a dah. You could get dits in, like the letter N dah-dit, but not A dit-dah, unless it immediately followed. If you left a pause for space between words or letters, it would reset to the first character being a dah no matter how quick you were. Very annoying. I would have loved it if President had put a little more thought into this as a HAM radio (Echo, Roger beep? Seriously?) and not an export CB, which, if were being honest, is what most people are buying these as.

Very nice 10m radio. Audio quality on TX is superior, does not drift frequency. Rx is very sensitive. President Electronics if you read this please make an hf radio 160m-6m as simple as this one. The only reason i gave this 4 stars is because there is zero support when it comes to the usb port, driver install and programming with computer. This is one of few times in my life where i just cant figure it out.
