29-10-2024My son used to get fever blisters (a lot) that I’d treat with expensive creams and ointments. I researched so much until I found this! He’s 10 years old thus can’t swallow a pill yet so I open the capsule and put it in his morning smoothies, oatmeal, even yougurt. Now then, he still gets a tiny fever blister (not as often) even when taking L-lysine but it only last hours and it’s GONE!

> 3 dayLong story short, I’ve been taking this L-lysine for about 8-9 months only once a day and sometimes I’d skip a day when I forgot. I went to the doctor for my bloodwork a little over 4 months ago and it came back that I have high cholesterol. That’s very weird for me because we have no family history of this in my family, I’m a good weight, exercise and eat a pretty healthy and balanced diet. After researching and then calling my doctor with the news, I stopped taking L-lysine because I found that it can raise your bad cholesterol and it should only be taken 3-4 weeks MAX. It’s been a little over 4 months now and I’m happy to say that my cholesterol is now back to normal, the only change I made was I stopped taking the L-lysine supplement. I’m sure it can help people, but I do warn you to only take it for up to a month and then take a long break in between. Hopefully, no one has this happen to them and hopefully I have no permanent damage or issues later on because of it. God bless!

01-11-2024I purchase many NOW products. Tried this lysine product on cats who take this supplement daily, vital for their compromised immune systems. Unfortunately, it did NOT work well, as with most other lysine brands. The cats started showing symptoms of their chronic infections a few days later. After putting them back on the other (more expensive brand) they went back to remission.... Every family member takes 2,000 mg of lysine daily, so we rather pay a little more money on a brand that works well on cats as our control group. To be fair to NOW, the fact that their lysine does not work well in cats, does not necessarily mean that it will not work well in humans -but for me, it is a semi-scientific observational indication to stay on a brand that works well in our control group

> 3 dayOk I love these.. as a cold sore sufferer myself I found that taking these pills do help... but here’s another thing.. I made my own paste to put on top of my cold sore as well and it worked unbelievably. Here’s my concoction... grab one or two of the pills.. get a small medicine cup, open the pills and pour in the cup, put a few drops of tea tree oil, and a few drops of peroxide, and some sea salt... voila... works sooo good! I leave it on all night or for an hour or so when I have time. This is the only thing that has actually brought my cold sore down dramatically. Do try!! As well as taking these pills too.

Greater than one weekMy doctor told me that if I was getting sick or ever thought I was getting shingles or a cold sore to take 1500mg L-Lysene twice a day -OR- 1000mg three times a day with a strong dose of vitamin C. Although I cannot be sure, I thought I was getting the shingles about 2 years ago & immediately began the L-Lysene 1500mg twice a day with vitamin C & it cleared up. Having been a nurse for many years, I have seen & heard about shingles & feel sure that is what I was getting.

Greater than one weekI have recurrent aphthous stomatitis triggered by tomatoes and this has made me never have a trigger again (when I do not forget). I take one of these every morning and have not had a trigger when I remember. I occasionally forget, eat something with tomatoes (its hard to avoid them), and will get a trigger. When I do have an outbreak I take 3 of these a day and it seems to decrease the time I have an outbreak. I hope these reaches someone with RAS well, it took me 19 years to find a solution.

> 3 dayMy kids and I love this supplement. It seems kind of funny to review something like this since it is simply a staple in our house (and has been for years). My kids and I have a tendency towards canker sores (otherwise known as mouth ulcers). When we are consistently taking this everyday, no canker sores! My teen daughters are not great about consistently taking vitamins every day, but when they begin to develop a canker sore, they start taking L-Lysine and the canker sores go away. My younger daughter has a pretty intense orthodontic appliance in her mouth, which can easily cause sores on her cheeks. I think it is only because of consistently taking L-Lysine that she has been able to make it through this orthodontic process. This supplement is very inexpensive, odorless, and effective. All pros and no cons as far as our household is concerned.

30-10-2024This helps so much with fighting viruses. I cant tell if it helps with colds or not, but anything in the herpes family, it helps a lot. I cant have nuts or the CMV (cytomegalovirus, similar to mono) comes back, but if I counter-balance with this lysine, Im fine. It also has helped in treating shingles, which is unbelievably painful, and in preventing outbreaks. Someone gave me biscotti with only a few walnuts in it, and boom, shingles starting. Since using these with ANY arginine-rich foods, Ive been able to avoid getting any more. If anyone else is looking for shingles help, or anything in the herpes family, here is what has helped me the very most: 1. Lysine to compensate for arginine in foods. I use this brand and its perfect. 2. Durhams bee propolis supplement 3 times a day during an outbreak (but only if youre not allergic to bee stings). Or the queens delight, which contains propolis. 3. Vitamin C (I use this same brand in 1,000mg time release tablets) combined with green or black tea. Vitamin C on its own does not help. Tea on its own may or may not help. But when you combine the two, they help a LOT. If you feel the tingling of an outbreak looming, if you do enough tea & C quickly enough, the lesion will never even form! 4. Durhams wonder salve stops lesions from spreading and reduces pain and itching on existing lesions. 5. Vitamin C serum - yes the same kind people use for wrinkles and anti aging - apply this directly to the lesion. I may stop using the wonder salve, as the vitamin C serum seems to work faster. I had an especially stubborn lesion on my ankle that was not responding to the propolis salve (wonder salve), so on a whim, I tried the vitamin C serum I normally use on my face to prevent wrinkles. That stubborn lesion/scar had been itching and burning for weeks after the lesion appeared healed. The C serum cleared it the rest of the way in a few days. I hope this information helps someone else. This particular product (Now Foods Lysine) and their time-released vitamin C are invaluable tools in my Arsenal to fight any viruses in the herpes family, all of which stay with you for life.

> 3 dayI take this everyday because I get cold sores. When my son was first born I decided to start donating my breast milk. But if you take the rx to get rid of your cold sores you can’t donate that milk for up to a week after you stop the rx. With the lysine I can donate while taking it, so super safe (according to my dr and the human milk bank) to take while pregnant nursing. I also double up the dosage when I’m getting a cold sore and the healing time is cut down so much!

> 3 dayWhen I am not taking this daily I can start to feel run down, need a nap. Seems to help my immune system.
