28-10-2024This helps so much with fighting viruses. I cant tell if it helps with colds or not, but anything in the herpes family, it helps a lot. I cant have nuts or the CMV (cytomegalovirus, similar to mono) comes back, but if I counter-balance with this lysine, Im fine. It also has helped in treating shingles, which is unbelievably painful, and in preventing outbreaks. Someone gave me biscotti with only a few walnuts in it, and boom, shingles starting. Since using these with ANY arginine-rich foods, Ive been able to avoid getting any more. If anyone else is looking for shingles help, or anything in the herpes family, here is what has helped me the very most: 1. Lysine to compensate for arginine in foods. I use this brand and its perfect. 2. Durhams bee propolis supplement 3 times a day during an outbreak (but only if youre not allergic to bee stings). Or the queens delight, which contains propolis. 3. Vitamin C (I use this same brand in 1,000mg time release tablets) combined with green or black tea. Vitamin C on its own does not help. Tea on its own may or may not help. But when you combine the two, they help a LOT. If you feel the tingling of an outbreak looming, if you do enough tea & C quickly enough, the lesion will never even form! 4. Durhams wonder salve stops lesions from spreading and reduces pain and itching on existing lesions. 5. Vitamin C serum - yes the same kind people use for wrinkles and anti aging - apply this directly to the lesion. I may stop using the wonder salve, as the vitamin C serum seems to work faster. I had an especially stubborn lesion on my ankle that was not responding to the propolis salve (wonder salve), so on a whim, I tried the vitamin C serum I normally use on my face to prevent wrinkles. That stubborn lesion/scar had been itching and burning for weeks after the lesion appeared healed. The C serum cleared it the rest of the way in a few days. I hope this information helps someone else. This particular product (Now Foods Lysine) and their time-released vitamin C are invaluable tools in my Arsenal to fight any viruses in the herpes family, all of which stay with you for life.

> 3 dayMy vocal therapist put me on this to strengthen the vocal chords as I have some inflammation and weak chords. Ive noticed improvement but one thing I didnt expect was this stuff actually has helped reduce my general anxiety. I am a big fan of the quality and price point of NOW Foods supplements and will continue using this. Especially after I learned the body needs this supplement but cant produce it naturally so you either need to get it from foods or through supplements. The more you know!

> 3 dayI am a 28 year old male, who has had canker sores since I can remember. I seem to always get them whenever I binge on sugar (candy/soda) and sometimes will get them 2-3 at a time and they would last for weeks. I have tried all of the home-remedies over the years, some work better than others but nothing has really been my cure. I read online that Lysine helps some people with canker sores, so I figured I would give this a shot since nothing else seems to work. I actually purchased this bottle almost a year ago and have been testing it out since then. I take these pills maybe 1-2 times a week just normally, but the moment I feel a canker sore coming on, I take 3 capsules a day for a few days and every time the canker sore goes away without fully developing! You canker sore people know the drill, you get that feeling in your mouth of a canker sore coming on, and within a few days its a full-blown pain in your mouth for weeks to come. This has worked for me about a half dozen times now where the canker sore just doesnt develop! If you have tried everything else but Lysine, then I recommend trying out this solution. It may not be your cure-all, but I never thought I would find mine until stumbling on Lysine and am so relieved that I did.

> 3 dayBe aware you may not get what you think you ordered. Been ordering and taking these for several years as capsules, which have helped to greatly reduce cold sores. Last shipment was tablets instead of capsules even though the pictures here clearly show capsules. Didn’t think it would matter much, but within a week I had a severe cold sore outbreak. The difference in absorption or metabolizing temporarily affected the effectiveness in my case.

> 3 dayWent through a 10 year span where I was getting one cold sore after another. I purchased a bottle of this product to see if it would give me any relief. I took one-a-day til the bottle was empty and never got another cold sore. Once the bottle ran out and I failed to replenish my supply, the cold sores returned. I wont make that mistake again..

> 3 dayL-lysine is a great supplement that a lot of people dont even know they should be taking. Ive taken Lysine supplements off and on for several years, recently I kept getting weird sores in my mouth so I bought these Now Foods Lysine supplements and within about a week or so they were gone and havent returned after several months. Lysine is good for several things in your body, its an essential amino acid, its great for your skin among other things. Now Foods have always been a great dependable brand with low prices, I know I can trust almost any of their supplements.

> 3 dayBeen using this for years... NOW is a great, reliable company. I take it occasionally when my body needs it, but mostly use it for rescue cats that need the immunity boost due to various ailments/conditions, including respiratory issues, viruses evidenced by other symptoms, lip blisters, etc. The gelatin capsule is easily separated to release the powder into wet food, liquids, etc. Great price, as well.
