> 24 hourIm thinking this might be regular maintenance item, kind of like replacing spark plugs in car motor, to avoid having problems with them sticking in the block...eventually you need to do it to keep them from seizing ...likewise, mineral deposits will eventually make removing the cartridge from the fixture difficult...I waited a bit too long, and had to use something like a pry bar setup to get the old cartridge out (scary since you dont want to cause leak inside wall where fixture is located) since it took some force to get our the old one...next time Ill plan to replace every other year or so (it had been several years since I last did it)...so good to keep some on hand to replace regularly is probably a good idea, as these are probably cheaper to buy than to pay for plumber if they get stuck and you need external help.

> 24 hourReplaced a Moen plastic 1225 plastic cartridge that only lasted 6 months before it began leaking with this brass cartridge of obvious higher quality for only a few dollars more. To early to tell if it will last as expected. If there is still no leak in 10 years Ill come back and revise my rating to five stars.

> 24 hourIf your moen is a push pull for on/off and then turn for temperature this is the one you need.

> 24 hourEasily installed, follow the instructions about using the cartridge removal tool (included) this help if you have to pull the old cartridge out by vice-grips. The one I was replacing had the screw for the acrylic handle broken off inside, I could not using the MOEN cartridge removal tool, due to this. Placing the removal tool on and using a 16mm ratchet wrench aided in loosening the leaking cartridge.

> 24 hourThe packaging should be easier to open. Reduce the amount of points melted and make the back side longer by 1/8 inch that way a man with gloves on can run their thumb over the top to separate the back from the top packaging and they can then grip the back and open the package without spilling the contents out. Small thing to make an excellent product even better.

> 24 hourI did not see the name Moen on the cartridge, so it may be a fake. BUT I installed it anyway and it works great. My shower valve is over 30 years old. The center stem came out easily but to get the brass cartridge out I had to use a makeshift puller. I used a 1/2 tap to thread the center of old brass cartridge. Then used a 1/2 bolt and 3/4 socket as the puller. It has to be a 1/2 drive socket so the bolt can go through it. The bolt I had was too long so I used a smaller size 1/2 drive socket as a spacer. I cleaned the inside of the old valve with Lime-A-Way and a old toothbrush then put a little Vaseline on the rubber o-rings before I inserted the new cartridge. It was more work then I planned but still easier than tearing out the wall and replacing the valve. If it is a sink faucet you may be easier to buy a new faucet. I would suggest watching a youtube.com video on replacing a Moen 1200 cartridge before you start.
