Getting older and its becoming harder to read various cooking instructions on store bought items. This magnifying glass has been a real life saver for me!! Easy to use and the light is super bright. It does require 2 AA batteries which are not included.

I gave them to a 96 year old who lost his regular one. He loved the light in this one.

I put the two AA-size batteries in and turned them on. Worked so well that I ordered three more. Now I have one in every room that I read in!

Overall, I am pleased with this purchase. It is advertised as having a 30X magnification. I think that number is way way off. I think it is really 3x magnification. This is not backed up with a scientific test on my part. In my layman terms, I think that is all that it is. With that being said, it is perfect for what I bought if for. The lights on it really work well. The glass lense, and not being plastic was a major plus. The price was very reasonable I can recommend it on the contingency that you dont expect it to magnify 30X. I bought it to read tiny instructions that seem to be the norm these days and it suited me fine for that. I think if it truly magnified 30X it would be way to powerful and annoying to use.

It really helps me to see the very tiny print of what is in various ingredients that I shouldnt have.

I got this for my elderly mother who is almost legally blind and too infirm to easily get to an eye doctor for an exam and updated prescription. I had previously gotten her a 10X magnifier, which helped for awhile. Mom’s vision has gotten progressively worse to the point where she needed something much stronger. She excitedly called me upon receiving this 30X magnifier, saying she could actually read her books again. Granted, this glass only lets her focus on a couple of words at a time, but that’s okay. She can read!

I love the construction. It’s sturdy and solid. The light is very helpful though my bf says it isn’t bright enough and he has to use a flashlight in addition to the magnifying glass. I would recommend if you only need a little light. If you need more light, consider other models.
