Upgrading the wifes laptop with this and was unable to find any free migration software. My Rig has two Samsung drives and they offer FREE migration software for there drives. Kingston does not offer the same, keep that in mind when purchasing!!

I moved most of my bulk storage files over to a separate HDD, then cloned whatever was still on my old Western Digital Blue 1TB over to the little Kingston SDD. I used the free Macruim reflect software and it took about an hour. When done, I simply unplugged the old main HDD, left in in place, and moved the cable over to the SDD. If it ever fails, The old one will never know it was ever replaced. Boot times are about 20 seconds vs 1.5 minutes for the HDD. It really has breathed new life into a first gen i7 build. Silent, fast, and quite affordable. I will never go HDD for anything but storage space again. The secondary HDD is still in place as well for storage purposes.

Bought it for a new OS system and I cant believe the difference from HDD to SSD. Super fast and a ton of storage. Awesome product.

I have an Acer 2 in 1 thats been dead for a year or so. It just wouldnt book - it gave weird errors. I finally got enough information together to guess that the hard drive had gone bad. So I found this hard drive and gave it a try. I found an article that showed me how to take the tablet apart and I replaced the drive. Then I had to go into the BIOS and change the boot from EUFI to Legacy. Until I did that, it wouldnt recognize the new hard drive! Once I did it, the rest was fine. I used a usb stick to install Windows 10 and Windows remembered my computer so I didnt even have to try to activate it (this was an unexpected plus). Now Ive got a working 2 in 1 again and much cheaper than a replacement!

I personally prefer EVOs (currently 860), but these are noticeably cheaper. They are a great price for solid state and we have installed them in a number of desktops and laptops.

Incredible speeds plus rock-solid reliability - Kingston"s A400 solid-state drive dramatically improves the responsiveness of your existing system with incredible boot, loading and file transfer times compared to mechanical hard drives. Powered by a latest Gen controller for read and write speeds up to 500MB/s and 450MB/s, this SSD is 10x faster than a traditional hard drive for higher performance, ultra-responsive multi-tasking and an overall faster system. Also more reliable and durable than a hard drive, A400 is built with Flash memory. There are no moving parts, making it less likely to fail than a mechanical hard drive. It"s also cooler and quieter, and its shock and vibration resistance makes it ideal for notebooks and other mobile computing devices. A400 is available in multiple capacities from 120GB-480GB to give you all the space you need for applications, videos, photos and other important documents. You can also replace your hard drive or a smaller SSD with a drive big enough to hold all your files. Backwards compatibility to SATA Rev. 2.0 (3Gb/s).
