I purchased this to upgrade my old Optiplex 3020 and it works great! I think the boot time of the old drive was over a minute and now it is 7 seconds or less!

I like the reasonable price, big brand for ssd, the speed is acceptable.if I have more budget, I will spend money on other models ssd.

Great price. Worked perfectly in my older laptop which now boots windows 10 in 15 seconds (used to take 2 minutes)

Bought this to boot my OS rather than use my HDD. What a difference in speed! great buy to those not looking to spend a lot!

I purchased this drive a year or two ago. It worked fine as a cheap laptop SSD, but after recently running benchmark tests, I have realized just how bad of a drive this thing is. For just a few extra dollars, you are FAR better off with a Western Digital Blue. I have both in their SATA form installed on my computer. My Western Digital can write a 48GB transfer in about 3 minutes and 20 seconds, with a sustained write speed of 220MB/s. The exact same transfer, from the exact same source drive, took 12:30, with a sustained write speed of about 55MB/s. For just a few more dollars, you can purchase a Western Digital or Samsung and get a 400% speed increase. Or, even better, jump up to an NVME drive and achieve 800% improvement. Im only still using this Kingston as a junk drawer on my computer because throwing it away would be a bit wasteful.

    Greater than one week

So this was the cheapest SATA 3 SSD at this capacity that was already recommended. Prior to install I resized the partitions to match and then cloned it to this drive. With the mechanical HDD that came installed in the laptop cold boot time was about 30 seconds. It takes about 9 with this drive to give you an idea at the value of swapping the HDD to SDD as the primary/OS disk. This drive is slightly thinner than a standard HDD but if your laptop has mounting rails it wont make a difference. Will likely buy a Kingston to replace the HDD in another laptop as well based on the performance and ease of install. It took about 30 minutes with the cloning process (USB 3.1 based drive station attached with this drive installed) and the actual install.

Anymore, inexpensive SSDs like this are a dime a dozen. Theyre cheap, faster than an HDD, and perform as advertised. Thats what this drive does. If you want something fancy, go somewhere else. If you want a basic, solid SSD for a low price. This is it.

Simple installation, customer service was quick to replace a dead drive.

Incredible speeds plus rock-solid reliability - Kingston"s A400 solid-state drive dramatically improves the responsiveness of your existing system with incredible boot, loading and file transfer times compared to mechanical hard drives. Powered by a latest Gen controller for read and write speeds up to 500MB/s and 450MB/s, this SSD is 10x faster than a traditional hard drive for higher performance, ultra-responsive multi-tasking and an overall faster system. Also more reliable and durable than a hard drive, A400 is built with Flash memory. There are no moving parts, making it less likely to fail than a mechanical hard drive. It"s also cooler and quieter, and its shock and vibration resistance makes it ideal for notebooks and other mobile computing devices. A400 is available in multiple capacities from 120GB-480GB to give you all the space you need for applications, videos, photos and other important documents. You can also replace your hard drive or a smaller SSD with a drive big enough to hold all your files. Backwards compatibility to SATA Rev. 2.0 (3Gb/s).
