> 3 dayBar-none this CPU is the best bang for the buck out there. Best single thread execution speed available prior to the 8086K (think X-Plane), and performs very well for multi-threaded applications as well. High end I7s and I9s with higher core counts or quad-channel memory that even come close to this CPU in single threaded execution speed cost twice as much and require much more expensive motherboards (and at least 4 sticks of RAM $$ to achieve the performance boost of quad channel). Overclockers: the 8086K is basically a binned version of this CPU with some of the clock speed settings opened up. That means that if you are thinking about finding a new 8700K that will do a stable OC past about 4.8GHz, forget it. Intel has already snagged them and put the 8086K label on them at a price premium (genius, in my book). Go and pay the Man...

> 3 dayI had this thing for two years before it died. No overclocking, not even once, and it stayed below 60 for hardcore gaming.

> 3 dayComing from an i7 2600K overclocked at 4.5GHz, I expected only a mild increase in speed. That 8086K to me feels about 50% faster then my older overclocked system. Everything is fast and responsive as it should be and I have lots of overclocking headroom. The nicest thing for me is the CPU temp, which went from around 60 degrees when idle to now 37 degrees at idle and a mere 50 under full load, and my CPU fan speed is still not maxed out. Planning on overclocking to 5GHz on all cores soon, and eventually more. For this purpose Im glad I have a 8086K and not a 8700K. Intels binning process guarantees that 8086K will run at minimum 5GHz on all 6 cores.
